What do you think?

amazing!!! love the art, the story and especially the main character! I struggled on the cat fight but it was worth it~~ can't wait for it to continue!

A Friendly Venture has been so much fun already! I really love the music and graphics, although the "walking through textures" thing is a bit confusing. The cloaked protagonist figure is the perfect mix between adorable and mysterious creepy, it basically screams: "Make fanart of me!"
And even though I like the cute and fluffy dreamland scenery I enjoyed the scene switch to the underground-stone-storage-basement place. That changed things up and made it even more interesting.
In terms of difficulty of the Phlooph fight, I think it is manageable. It takes some tries to get the right timing but the general strategy is not that hard to figure out. Personally I welcomed the little challenge.
That being said I am ultra looking forward to future releases of this game. You did an awesome job so far!

(i'm not english, sorry in advance for my weird sentences)
Your game is really good ! I didn't exepct it to be so fun ! The passage with cloud-cats is hard, it's pleasant to feel like your fight with the game but i'm afraid that some people will abandon really soon. It's a tough beginning, i hope the difficulty will not increase too much. I like the fact that you hide some creepy aspect, it's very effective. I think the only thing that bother me a little is that you can walk through a lot of textures, even characters. I don't know if it's a bug or if you kept it to insist on the dreamy aspect of the game but it feels a little disturbing. Anyways, i am really impatient to see the rest of it ^^.

Really cute game, I wish I could change the volume via the volume mixer in Windows tho! I included it in my compilation video series of games from the Adventure Jam 2017, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/z1sySphavGM

I had lots of fun with this game! The game reminded me of Undertale without feeling EXACTLY like it; an homage to it versus just a clone. The phlooph cats had an accelerated but not impossible difficulty curve not unlike Undertale, which I liked, though I had to edit out about half a dozen deaths from the video I made. I want to see more of this game because I need to know who the girl at the end is and what kind of drugs the unicorn takes to get his eyes that big, haha!
As I said, I made a video and I really hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed your game. Thanks again for making it and I look forward to more!

A fun little adventure with lots of shenanigans happening along the way.

This game is stylized in an almost retro 2D way. Mostly, to be relatively easy to handle for our first game.

Some note: BTW, after the Little Phlooph jumps over the wall, go over and interact with that same wall. (forgot to add a thing -_-)

Controls (Because forgot to add in-game)

  • Movement: Arrow keys

  • Interact/Skip Dialog: Z, Enter

  • Go back: X, RShift

  • Exit Game: Escape

Installation:

Extract the zip file and start "AFriendlyVenture.exe."

If you get a DLL missing error, download and install the C++ Redistributable here.

@WarlordofWaffles: Story, Programming, Beautiful placeholder art

It is created entirely with a custom-made game engine called the Wolf-Gang Engine and comes with an original soundtrack composed during the jam.

If you're wondering why such a simple game is 40MB, 97% of that file size is just music.
