Great exploration platformer! clearly inspired by Cave story. I love how dungeons, enemies and bosses are designed + secrets too. Speaking of secrets, I almost got all powerup modules except for one (read bugs report below) but not sure about hearts upgrades. I can say that Striker has 52 HP when he fights Switch

Bugs report:

  1. Medicine is placed behind waterfall but when striker takes it or jumps there, he's not behind waterfall at all

  2. Scorpions could block the top of the rope if it chases striker

  3. Sand demon would drop heart underground if it's killed before it has fully show itself

  4. I entered red desert from teleporter in power room. Then while traveling, I fell on a hole to the left of topleft most doorway. I can't get out after falling down

  5. BTW teleporter in power room is unlocked allowing me to use it before meeting Jericho

  6. After defeating Jericho and teleporting via triangle he dropped, there would be teleport FX left on left side of the room

  7. I revisited Dr Kanus after he sent Striker to search for ship parts then the scene in which Dr Kanus wakes Striker is replayed

  8. The door next to save point at lowest floor of tower of woe can be opened by shooting the switch but even though the door is open, Striker can't enter

  9. Pierce module only works on enemies but not on walls (it's obsoleted by boomerang+upgrade though)

  10. Revisiting Jericho's room will retrigger dialogue between Jericho and Striker. After the dialogue ends, Striker can't get out since there's no boss nor portal to get out

Suggestions:

  1. Gave Striker ability to shoot downwards. This will also help Striker dealing with penguins who have hugged him

  2. Put save point in Dr Kanus' & Dr Scott's place

  3. Hearts shouldn't be touchable if Striker is at full health

  4. Conches should wait for couple seconds after shooting to allow Striker to shoot it without getting hit

  5. Replace bell sound with loud and more catchy sound

  6. Change the color of yellow button in moon cave with green (shooting that button opens green door)

BTw I haven't completed this game yet. I hope those bugs will be fixed and those suggestion will be taken :)

Theres a few things I need to change around anyway im still hunting for bugs and glitches. Ill upload an update later today and let you know when its up!

Oh yeah, one thing I forgot to mention, that soundtrack is awesome

When you said it was like a nes game, you weren't kidding, this game is every bit as brutal as the games of our childhood.

It's also a pretty awesome metroidvania. It's got all the toys: new weapons that open up different areas and powerups, branching paths, and a vague enemy the NPCs constantly hint at.

I just wish the controls were Z and X instead of Z and C. It made it a bit harder to jump and shoot with a key that does nothing in between them.

Overall, awesome game., 4/5

This game is a retro style game that plays like a Metroid game. Youre in an opened up world to explore, where an evil man gone insane gains an incredible amount of super powers and starts to use them to destroy worlds for no real reason. Your character Striker is a soldier from another world who gets warped into this world and asked to fight this evil character.
