Freakin Amazing, ten out of ten!
I liked it
You can probably guess from the name what PS1 platformer inspired me to make this game; there's actually a launch 360 arcade title that played a major part in this also!
Quite simply, a simple game. I've tried to design something that I can create and finish on my own. The ball controls more or less exactly how I want it to, and as such, the gameplay "mechanics" of the ball are pretty much complete until I polish things at the very end.
So the game you're playing right now, is pretty much exactly how it's going to play out in the final version. All that's left is to add puzzles, add more obstacles, levels, assets, and just improve the visual aspect of the game.
The gameplay will remain as simple as picking up collectibles, and once the win message appears, there will be a short interval before the player is sent back to the warp room to choose another level.
The entire game is unlocked from the start, and you don't have to unlock levels by completing earlier ones. There will be a central warp room to enter levels which will be themed "gates".
This prototype is just what it is; a simple level showcasing the ball's gameplay and design philosophies. Controls are in a notepad in the zipped folder. Enjoy!
