Sonic.EXE Reborn

This game is a prototype of a Sonic 1 remake cartridge set to release in mid 1996 to early 1997. Development began in around early 1995. The game seemed to be abandoned in late 1995. It uses Sonic 2 spriteart and was going to feature new playable characters. Very few screenshots have been found. The PC decompile (which was to be used to make a computer version) name is "SonicReborn.EXE".

It was going to include Sonic 2 as well, accessible via a menu as a bonus and was going to feature Master System levels from 8-bit Sonic 1. It would also feature cut levels from Sonic 2. It was going to be feature all of this with a new Genisis storage update, which was going to be able to address 32 MB instead of 16 MB.

It was reportedly abandoned because of glitches in the game. There are no reports of what is in this ROM, but people have played it.
