I did it like that because of perspective-
Cuz most of the time the rooms in Undertale are flat surfaces and its like you slightly look from above-
But people call this sprite fat now, so idk what to do, this is the hardest choice of my life-

Should I listen to the people or my own preference?

(I prefer the 2nd Chara cuz it looks less "fabricated", less based, more characteristic and it's not meant to be fat, just chubby-)

Idea for later (maybe)

When used Chara's spell soul will "switch" for another, different red shade when you take damage and HP is switched for such graphical hearts.

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to change anything else.
I will leave a poll here, which one do you think would be better?
Take in account that the same "body" would go for Frisk and possibly stay like it for the rest of the comic and game.
