Dr. Stephens - “Good morning, [omitted].”

-[omitted] nods. Stephens pulls out a sketchbook and hands it to her, as per their usual communication routine.-

Dr. Stephens - “How was your week?”

-[omitted] shrugs.-

Dr. Stephens - “The usual, I presume… Tell me, what’s on your mind this week?”

-[omitted] scribbles in the sketchbook for a few seconds and holds it up.-

[omitted] - ‘i feel fine. why do i still have to be here’

Dr. Stephens - “You have been making remarkable progress after the incident, but…”

-Dr. Stephens pauses as he comes to a revelation. -

Dr. Stephens - “Have your parents not spoken with you about your… developmental problems…?”

-[omitted]’s confused expression tells him all he needs to know.-

Dr. Stephens - “[omitted]… The accident has affected a bit more than just your mental health. Sure, you’re feeling much more content and even happy now… But I’ve heard that you haven’t spoken a word back at home, or even at school. Your grades are dropping badly, and…”

-[omitted] curls up a bit, prompting Dr. Stephens to catch himself.-

Dr. Stephens - “You’re a very intelligent and creative girl… Your father, especially, is very worried about you.”

-[omitted] scribbles in her sketchbook.-

[omitted] - ‘im not intleligent’

Dr. Stephens - “You misspelled intelligent on purpose, didn’t you?”

-[omitted] crosses her arms and turns her head away dramatically.-

Dr. Stephens - (After a moment sharing a chuckle with [omitted]) “You really are a great kid, [omitted]. Tell me, have you made any friends yet?”

-[omitted] scribbles hastily in her sketchbook, stops, erases, and then rewrites.-

[omitted] - ‘just one.’

—ASSESSMENT—

[omitted] still shows some hesitance to share what’s on her mind, but she seems to be opening up a great deal. It won’t be too long until we get some results.

Miss Afton, I understand she trusts you the most. I recommend taking your daughter out more, maybe you could convince her to get some sunlight to fix that pale skin up?
