We’ve seen many enthusiastic fans from across the globe ask if they want to translate AFTEREFFECT into another language. This is completely understandable, as AFTEREFFECT is a very dialogue-heavy game and is almost impossible to understand if you don’t know the English language. We’re glad to see so many of you are enthusiastic about the game, even overseas!
However, we want to make sure the translation is the best it could be. What we are looking for aren’t translators, but localizers. Localization is different than a pure translation.
Localization means the dialogue is changed to accommodate the culture and sound more natural in the given language. Translation is a literal translation that usually ends up in more awkward sounding dialogue. We’ve seen that many fans have wanted to use google translate to literally translate the game. Google Translate is infamous for its very rigid translations, so this will result in a lesser experience for those playing the game in another language.
Overall, the point is that if we were to look for people to localize AFTEREFFECT, we would want something with experience in game localization and has some previous work they can show. If you want to localize AFTEREFFECT, here is the type of person we’re looking for:
-Are you fluent in the English language, to the point where you can understand subtle expressions and natural-sounding speech?
-Do you have past experience in localization? Or, do you have past experience as any kind of translator?
-Are you able to change the dialogue to accommodate a certain country’s speaking patterns or culture? Are you able to change dialogue but keep the same overall feel in the script?
If you fall under all of these qualifications, contact us and show us your previous work. We will be happy to work with you. Anyways, thanks for playing and more updates coming soon.
