Since I’m going full steam ahead with game production while updating the proper maps with their parallax map counterparts as they are provided, I decided I needed to expand my resources.

The result of this decision was the DS resource pack from the rpg maker DLC. While the audio content provided is fairly stock, its the tilesets I’m more interested in.

I’ll be the first however to admit I have zero skill in tileset map design so its gonna be one hell of a learning curve for me. Thus far I’ve relied on the parallax map artist who fill in my maps for me while I waited for them.

Since i’m going into full production mode, I can’t depend on them to produce all the maps at the pace I plan on working on this game.

It boils down to the fact that I can’t afford to sit back and wait for the HD maps to be finished if I want to complete this game any time soon.

A grim fact has reared its ugly head to me:

The dream of releasing a complete game with HD parallax maps right out of the box is not going to be a reality. The single map and sprite artist who I am paying, simply don’t have the free time to dedicate themselves to working on this game as much as I want them to.

Perhaps if I had more people on the team, this could have been but as it stands, its not going to happen. Most of the maps will probably look horrible at first, please don’t let this discourage you from playing it!

DON’T PANIC!

The HD parallax maps are going to be in the game! They just won’t be all released at once. For this reason alone, the game will remain “in beta” until the parallax maps are fully added to the game.

I know calling it “in beta” even when its quote “finished” unquote, may feel like an excuse to “release a half done game” but in my eyes, the game isn’t finished until every single map has an HD parallax version of itself in my game. :)
