WARNING: The end is somewhat earrape (I wonder why those guys made such earraping notes when we cover those tracks in other instruments; they heard normal when they are played on their original piano)
Comment: The most tear-inducing track of the whole Touhou history. It's original story is about a mother who has lost her son (an allegory to the story of Jesus and Mary?). Now the story is retold, also a mother losing her child, but this time, she lost a daughter instead of a son. Everybody mourns her death, not counting her best friends and family, but also some random youkai who only knows a little about her. This poor girl is a victim of inadvertent food poisoning, and the poisoned food is too potent that she died just after a few days. She is finally given a place to rest in peace, and after death, her religious piety and good deeds transformed her soul into an angel of the Heavens, and now enjoying the bliss and peacefulness of Heaven, alongside with helping humans in need.
The image of the Mettaton parody of the Pietà actually is an reference to the fact that her death is even mourned by well-known celebrities of Gensokyo (in the AU) including Jane and the Prismriver band (despite not being told in the prologue story). In this case, Mettaton might represent Jane and the Prismriver band, and Burgerpants represents Mari.
The trumpets and the celesta in the track might hint to what will happen to Mari after her death: She ascended to Heaven and becoming an angel. (Nice reference, I told myself)
Hope you enjoy this track!
