A Successful Week - Friday Lookback

It’s Friday! This week I actually managed to accomplish my goals.

1 - Build some more set pieces to use in world building.
This is something I wish I could have done more of, but I’m happy with what I got accomplished. Here’s a screenshot showing off a new type of fence:

2 - Improve the enemy system.
I added a system that allows me to specifically place certain enemies at precise locations instead of always relying on random spawners. I can use this system to create boss fights and other specific encounters.

3 - Tweak the movement and collision system
The collision system up to this point has been fairly simple. It always felt weird for the player to come to a full stop whenever he or she just barely clipped an obstacle. So I added a few exceptions to the player’s collision code that allows the player to glide along walls instead of getting hung up on small collision edges. Here’s a gif to show what’s happening (it’s barely noticeable but it helps a lot):

Well, there it is. I didn’t get a bunch of cool fancy work done, but I accomplished my goals and got stuff done.

Quick note: Next Monday I’ll going to be throwing a poll at you so be ready for that.

Thank you for reading!
God bless
