What Is ALTERTALE REKINDLED?

ALTERTALE REKINDLED is an UNDERTALE fangame based on Friisans' ALTERTALE.

It is @Nubert 's gift for UNDERTALE's 10th Anniversary, and a fresh take on the popular AU. Though it is not the same as Friisans' version.

Monsters completely keep their personalities instead of only 20%, but they swap other stuff such as their heights, backstories, motives and more!

This take aims to be around the same size of a game UNDERTALE is

~ Not too small, but not too big so it doesn't get killed by loss of motivation (which seems to happen a lot to fangames here) ~

Looking For Team Members

Currently, the team is just one guy - @Nubert .

If no one joins, he does have the tools to make the game by himself, but it would be nice to have some help to speed things up, and also make sure the project is a decent quality all around!

Here's what we're looking for currently:

• Sprite Artists

• Musicians

• Coders (Game Maker. Any level of experience welcome!)

  • *We have a main coder, but assistant coders are welcome

• Writers

• Playtesters (Limited to 5 people, and you can't be a playtester if you help with anything else on the game because of bias, knowing what to expect and etc.)

The team may be limited to a certain number, though I am uncertain of the number yet. Once I feel it's starting to get too big, I'll stop accepting help.

Although if you think you can help some other way, don't be afraid to ask!

Wait... Oh yeah! Here's how you can do that:

• Comment on @Nubert 's shouts page saying you want to help and send him a friend request

• When he adds you back, send him some examples of work (you can make them before asking to join or use work from past projects. Nothing will be shared with anyone else.)

We will have a Gamejolt Group Chat and probably later create a Discord if the team wants one, but it won't be required.

Additional Information

• Swapped monsters retain all of their personality, but take the motives of the person they swapped with.

  • E.g. Sans still has his laid-back lazy demeanour, but doesn't want Frisk to leave The RUINS because of his own loneliness, the guilt of letting the other 6 children out to their deaths, and he doesn't want Papyrus to take Frisk's soul.

• Swapped monsters also have appropriate information swapped

  • E.g. Sans does not know about the timelines or resets giving him more motivation to protect you, but Toriel does since she takes his place also making her question what the point of doing anything is.

• The monsters will mostly not have the same designs, abilities and etc they have in the original ALTERTALE AU

  • Though some stuff may be used (e.g. Sans not having Gaster Blasters), I don't want to limit myself creatively by only sticking to Friisans' version of ALTERTALE.

Closing Words

ALTERTALE is an AU @Nubert has adored for years now, and to see no one take a crack at trying to make it disheartens him. He hopes he can make a fun, decent quality game for the community to enjoy, and finally fulfil his rather underwhelming dream of having a fully playable ALTERTALE AU.

And who knows? Maybe he'll even make some friends along the way...
