About Team Arctic, and the fate of POPGOES 2.


So I know it's been a couple of months since my last post, so I do apologize. First, before I get into any news about POPGOES 2, I want to talk about the team behind it, Team Arctic. The team has officially disbanded. Many of the original team members and other new additions have all left the private team server, as well as the public server. This means Team Arctic is basically dead. I am the only member left. And I know you will be asking "What does this mean for POPGOES 2?" And the answer is: POPGOES 2 may never be finished. BUT as a send off to the fans, and for the people supporting us these past few years, instead I have opted to make a tech demo of sorts, using what we have finished and making it into a small little demo for you guys to enjoy. I'll try to include as much of the original gameplay as I can, but some parts may be cut or left out because it is an unfinished game. So, let me go over what this new build will cover:

  • Both Pre-Reprinted and Reprinted

  • One combined night for both versions (possibly having a difficulty slider)

  • Fully animated movement and jumpscares

  • SOME of the map for Pre-Reprinted

  • A LITTLE of the map for Reprinted

Pre-Reprinted already has most of the rooms needed for the game, only really requiring two more rooms to be finished. The other cameras may be disabled (if they will be unused) or "have the lights turned out" (if the room is needed, but unmodeled). And then the only thing after that is to animate and program for Pre-Reprinted, and that part of the tech demo will be done. Though, a lot of development time will be spent on Reprinted, because it has little to no rooms modeled. Also, (mostly for Pre-Reprinted), some rooms may look off compared to the rest, and that will be because they were taken from different points in development. I know it's going to look weird (and I absolutely hate it), but since I'm doing this completely solo, I need to save some time, and reusing older models will help me cut some time off from development. This tech demo will not be perfect, and I know that. I just want to make a build that will at least let you play some of the gameplay from both versions of the game that were planned. And hey, who knows. Maybe after this, POPGOES 2 could resume development once a team has been reformed. There are a lot of cool concepts and ideas that I'd hate to scrap because they would've been amazing to play in-game. Though, if the game is cancelled for good, I'll show off all the unused stuff because I don't want any of it to go to waste. Another thing, since I'm doing this solo, I'm going to make development more public, maybe posting some more WIP screenshots, some unfinished rooms, or early gameplay videos to get some feedback from you guys, and also to show it's not dead. I'm going to make sure this releases, so everyone can have something to play. Anyways, that's all I have for this post. I appreciate everyone's support, and I will see you all in the next post.
