Brilliance: An interstellar journey

Congratulations to all the participants! I can’t really believe that at least 43 people played my game, and three rated it fairly positively on GameJolt!

I admit the endings were a bit abrupt, because right in the middle of the jam, our brand new baby was born! Hooray! So I made sure I actually finished the game before the jam ended, but nuance and “world building” were thrown out the window. :D

This was my very first gamejam, and my very first publically-released, finished game. It was a great learning experience! I still haven’t figured out how to create an HTML5 version of the game. In theory, the tools allow exporting to HTML5, but I wasn’t able to figure that out in time for the jam.

I saw some great games made using Unity. I’ve only used Adventure Game Studio and web-based creators like Twine and Quest before. Above the Waves used SLUDGE, which I hadn’t heard about before. It shows that the choice of game engine can matter only a little for a game’s success.
