Hey, Moof here, another monthly update here for you all. I'm going to try more of a focused take this time, so here are some Q and A styled questions. We've got some big questions here today, such as the state of development as well as some other things.
It's been a while. What's been happening with development?
We were not happy with the direction of the new minigame being added into AFTEREFFECT DX, so we have decided to delay development to rework the gameplay into something we are more happy with. I'm sorry people will have to wait longer, but we want to make something we have fun developing! I think this will show in the game you'll end up playing as well.
Voice Acting for AFTEREFFECT DX?
Will Voice Acting ever be implemented in AEDX? The answer is: maybe. We would love to work on voice acting, but we are kind of inexperienced in that field! Plus, it's a lot of work to work with voice actors, and we aren’t exactly voice directors. I’m not a professional, but I know voice directors are a key to getting a good performance, and I’m not sure if I’m comfortable with voice direction as of now.
AEDX is also a very dialogue heavy game, more so than a typical FNAF fan game which usually just has a couple of phone calls and one-liners. This is kind of due to the visual novel nature of the game. The amount of work going into dubbing the game would be a whole lot, and that's even with only dubbing key scenes of the game.
We have some people interested in dubbing the game, so if voice acting were to added, it would be a patch, and not be released with AEDX. This just so we don't have to delay the release of AEDX for voice acting. We will update you if this decision goes further.
No more “DX” versions for SPLEE TEAM games
A bad trope with us is that SPLEE TEAM tends to announce enhanced versions of games, and never follows through. Or rather, just announces updates. Good examples would be Dreamscape Plus and the Vocal Nightmare Balance Patch (remember when I said that’d come out in May? Hahaha...). DX is similar, but it's gotten considerably farther. However, I think in the future, there will no longer be DX versions of short games we release after we release them.
I think developing these expansion packs too soon is kind of detrimental to the creative process, as it doesn’t let me as a creator move and work on new things. Instead, I’m kinda stuck in the past, working on old content instead of feeling satisfied with what I have. This is one of the factors why AEDX is developing a bit slowly.
So yeah if we make a long game like the planned INTO THE AETHER remake, there’s a possibility for expansion. But for small games, I think I’m going to try and make them complete when I finish them on release, only releasing bug fix patches afterward.
AFTEREFFECT 2. Is it happening?
Short answer: No, or not for a long time.
Long answer: AFTEREFFECT 2 is kind of a loaded question for me. Sure, it might seem kind of obvious and like I should make it. After all, it is SPLEE TEAM’s most popular game so far, and I’m sure people want more of this unique visual novel take on the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise.
In truth, I do have some ideas of what I could do for a sequel. However, the ideas are either not explicitly related to FNAF (which would make the AFTEREFFECT sequel an original game not related to FNAF at all) or really ambitious ideas that would take a very long time to develop. Both of these aspects make it not worth it to develop a sequel in my mind. If the sequel was not related to FNAF, many wouldn’t really care for the original characters. If the sequel was too ambitious, it would take a long time to get done, and I wouldn’t want to get stuck doing a fan game for potentially a whole year or more.
Both are kind of negative in multiple ways, so for those reasons, there are no plans to develop an AFTEREFFECT sequel. This could change, and if people are out there willing to help develop the game, things might change. But don’t expect anything for a while, if ever

I don't want to leave it on a sour note, so, just be sure that the new ending to AEDX will be worth the wait! I'm going to have some exciting stuff for next Saturday. I hope it doesn’t disappoint, and I have made it with the fans in mind. That’s all from me, have a good day
