So I went into the Scratch forums to request a block user function and they said that it was in an earlier version but it got changed to the report system because often after being blocked these people would go target others (and we all know how bogus the report system is anyway). I then asked about the potential of direct messaging and apparently that is off the table as well, as it would be “unsafe”.

FOR GODS SAKE SCRATCH, IF YOU WANT IT TO BE SAFE, THEN FRICKING USE THE SAME COMMENT MODERATION ENGINE IN DMs!!! It’s really not that complicated! Or make it where you can mention certain people and only they can see and reply to certain comments.

This right here is why I prefer Gamejolt and Discord. They don’t emit the same amount of BS that scratch does. God.
