A Somewhat Obvious Announcement
In-case you couldn't tell, I have restarted this project. It should be noted that this whole thing was a continuation of my cancelled project back in November, and overtime I have gained more and more skills. I took one look at the game one day and said, "I can do a whole lot better". So I said screw it and decided to restart.
The good news is that in only 3 days, I'm already working on the cameras and AI, and some new ideas (for comparison it took me a month to get to that point, so development is going by rapidly). I'll share with y'all everything that I have done below in kind of another first devlog
Updated Graphics
This game really needed a fresh coat of paint, so I decided to give it just that. I can tell my style has changed quite a lot, and I THINK its starting to match my drawing style
On the topic of new graphics, I wanted to actually draw the characters in the angle of the camera (crazy right). As you can see from Lemon up there, and Apple down here(this image is subject to change)
Now I didn't say I did a good job on it, but I'm still tweaking it here and there. Anyways, I hope you like this new style.
Updated Gameplay
I want to add more gameplay elements to the nights. In the first version, I felt like there was basically no need for the cameras, since all that you had to do on it was stall apple. Hopefully I can add more of a use for it, but I'm still working on it.
Along with that, I also wanted to solve the door issue. In the first version, you could just shock Lemon, Orange and Peach the moment they enter the halls. This was fine, but it was kinda easy.
I want to make it to where you can still shock them right as they enter, but doing so won't push them back as far. (for example if you shocked Peach as soon as she entered, she will probably still be on cam 4 rather than cam 2). However if you do wait to shock an animatronic, you could sometimes send them as far back as to the show stage, so it's kinda like a risk & reward system.
The Shop!
This is a new feature that I've never thought about doing in any of my games. It's a shop where you can buy decorations, items to help you out, and even new animatronics to face during custom night! (i'll explain them later). It's just the Prize Counter with Apple running it. I also thought it would be a good idea to have him talk and reveal little pieces of lore. Such as "I usually move around, but I can wait. Take your time" or some humor, such as "Two jobs, one paycheck. I don't even know why I earn paychecks anyways, I'm a robot"
I'll explain more about the shop in the next devlog
Custom Night
This is gonna be the primary bonus mode. It's the usual custom night stuff, with AI going up to 20 and you have 5/20 mode. There's gonna be challenges like in ucn, like "Girls' Sleepover" and "5/20 Hard Mode." Actually, I'm gonna talk about 5/20 Hard Mode because it's kinda important.
In the shop, you can buy doppelgangers to replace that certain animatronic during the night. Here they are, with the original marked with a spoiler (for convenience)
They have opposite personalities, and (all except for Lemon) swapped genders. This kinda adds to the Girls' Sleepover challenge. Just thought it'd be a fun idea to see what they looked like with complete opposite characters.(also, I know Green Grape looks like a trans boy, but it's not. I'm not adding lgbt animatronics to a western lemonade restaurant.)
An announcement
Speaking of lgbt, let's talk about what tomorrow is. Now just know, even though I don't support it, I do not hate gay people. It's just that as soon as the clock turns 12:00 tonight, everyone is gonna shove pride month down everyone's throat, so for a few weeks I will be hibernating to avoid going insane. Again, I do not hate gay people, just the idea goes against my morals and faith.
Could I have just stayed silent? Yes. But I'm infamous for disappearing randomly so I want to give a reason this time.
Anyways, to end this devlog on a positive note, I will be continuing to work on awalr on my offtime. So prepare for another devlog when I come back. Anyways, see y'all, and stay safe.
