One Night at Freddy's Pizza Kamified wasn't ever really intended to exist in the first place, yet did so entirely out of a fluke.
As shown by this post, I never intended to make any project for April Fools as I find the 'holiday' (I guess?)
rather lame. However, even though I arguably did indeed stick to my word as you, in fact, got nothing that day, after a few hours of having posted that, I decided to try and take a shot at creating something anyway just to see how much of a project I could make in just the remaining time I had left in the day as a personal challenge of sorts.
Before chucking myself into Turbowarp with zero plans whatsoever I, of course, had to come up with some, and the first thing I knew was that it could NOT be low effort NOR misleading, as those types of jokes are my single biggest gripe with the day. It had to be something genuine, something that could be made any other day of the year but just so happened to be mildly amusing, thus my mind immediately went to a particular thing I was rather inexplicably fixated on for the better part of two-three years, being Juniper's One Night at Freddy's Pizza.
At the beginning, this new project was simply meant to be a very faithful, barely upgraded widescreen version of the game, the first build made that day functioning literally the exact same even up to characters' behaviors, but 1. again, wanted to make a genuine game and all, remaking a four year old not particularly functional game that faithfully didn't exactly scream 'very amusing', and 2. the ideas started kicking in the days following.
Even at this point, however, this game still wasn't Kamified, but instead One Night at Freddy's Pizza Infinite/Ad Infinitum, the joke instead being that the titular one night was, in fact, an infinite one that kept getting progressively harder, adding a random group of entirely unrelated characters as time went on to make things more obnoxious. This idea would be workshopped further as I thought on just how exactly I could code it in without it also being obnoxious to me, but in the meantime I got to changing the specifics of the freddys' AIs to scale with a single 'RunDifficulty' variable, which is still in place up to the current build.
After a while of tinkering, even having shoved Dee Dee into the files of the game just in case I wanted the unrelated characters to be added through her, I came to the conclusion that the best way would be to separate the night into multiple and turn this into another rouge-like FNaF fangame, which I wasn't particularly keen on doing just yet because I was already pretty damn far off schedule, so instead I decided to dial back the scope of the game all the way back to being just a remake of the original Freddy's Pizza, just giving it a lot of flare and polish it arguably didn't deserve, at this point under the subtitle 'The Rerun'.
I then promptly remade everything of the build I had at that point to optimize it and got to work, adding the menus, death screens, a frankly unnecessary amount of random texts, etc. Then, I gave it its final title, made the gamepage, and a couple of days later released the game, wow!
Even at this point I wasn't done, though, as there were plans for more.
I had made a lot of coding decisions during the development to make the one night as customizable as I could make it, such as the night length not being hard-coded, instead lasting an editable amount of minutes for example, the idea being to add a fully customizable night, not just in character difficulty, but in every game rule possible, as well as being able to individually add extra characters from the second main addition of this hypothetical update, being the rouge-like mode itself!
Ad Infinitum mode as I'm calling it from now on was supposed to be an endless set of 2 minute nights, with intermissions between each one that prompted you to add at least one new character from a largely undecided pool of characters from all over the internet, not just FNaF(because it's funny)
having boss fights occur against certain other characters every unspecified amount of nights that I never quite decided on, as this whole idea was in very early planning.
Alongside these two gameplay additions there would be an extras menu which would include everyone from main gameplay and Ad Infinitum, but as you could gather by my wording and the title of the post, none of this is quite happening anymore.
Put it simply, I think the scope of an update such as this is too big for both my own abilities, time, and what this game was meant to be in the first place, y'know, a one night FNaF fangame made as a silly late April Fools gag?
Future support for this game has essentially been dropped, as I do not see any need for further content updates, and I am sufficiently happy with the final product, it is, in fact, indubitably, unmistakably: kinda neat, and I'm fine with it being just that.
It's been mildly fun, but I'm moving on.
