Think about it for a second. Let's say that Boyfriend and Pico are the trolls. You play as the two of them against Sonic and Tails before Shadow comes in and eventually kills Pico, leaving you to fend for yourself. At this point, there would be a dodge mechanic now that pico isn't there to defend you. At the end of the song, BF would get shot by Shadow, hit on the head with a shovel by Knuckles and dragged away as tails stares in horror.
