Taking a week break for the summer
Throughout this past couple of weeks, I haven't really had a true break. I've been marketing, bug fixing, and more. I go to an online college which is also an accelerated program. Due to it's accelerated nature, we don't really get many breaks from school throughout the year. However, next week is one of the few weeks we get off from school, being our 1-week summer break.
I want to enjoy this rare break to the best of my ability, so for that week I'm going to be taking a full leave from not only school, but from game development as well. The only other break we get of this nature is spring break and winter break, so you can understand that I really cherish this free time I get off from school. It is quite a rare thing. I promise that when I return, AFTEREFFECT will resume back to full development and I won't just disappear! I'm really dedicated to this game. I will make a post when I resume development.
Plans for AFTEREFFECT: Directors Cut
AFTEREFFECT: Directors Cut (which I will shorten to AEDX for brevity sake) will be an expanded version of the original AE, featuring more original artwork, more endings, and more posters and collectibles for you to find. Any content planned but cancelled for the original GameJam release will be restored in this version.
You can expect...
-New final act for the new ending, Act 4: Illusion Broken. This is what people are most excited for, I believe.
-New CGs for cutscenes, which will add original artwork of Vanessa and Marielle for the emotional highlights of the story.
-Glitchtrap in ACT 2 will have more polish as well as an original jumpscare noise.
-The hacking minigames will have visual polish.
-A new, stylish pause screen where you can have trackers for posters found, minigames completed, as well as rooms discovered.
-More posters.
-An extras menu with behind the scenes concept art!
As you can see, it's more of a small expansion of the vanilla AE experience rather than what can be considered a DLC, so don't expect a wildly different experience. Aside from the new endings, it will be just a better feeling, more polished version of the original. We hope you look forward to AEDX.
