Merry Christmas, everyone... again! It's been exactly one year since the last devlog I've put out concerning the Steam Release of Playtime with Percy (which you can view here!) and a lot has certainly happened in that year, so let's take some time to talk about it!
WHAT ARE WE DOING RIGHT NOW...?

So, the big thing is progress - and that's been going well! As you can see above, some of us are now focused on bringing the new cutscenes that come with New Game+ to life (all of them are already storyboarded, in-fact!), and as of writing this, they're about halfway done! Exciting, right? I can't believe it, either!
This semi-canon side story has been very fun to work on, mostly in part to the fact it allows me to flesh out new characters here that play a part in this game, as opposed to the admittedly lack of character/story Nick had in the main campaign. I think you guys will like it, it's been very cool to bring to life!
There's not a whooooole lot I can say about these further, though. They're cool, and I hope you get to see them in-motion fairly soon! Though, in addition, we did actually also go back to update Nick's cutscenes considering we wanted to draw him in a more consistent manner - so here's some of that as well, if that peaks your interest:

CONTROLLER... IS HAPPENING?
Yeah, that as well! Controller Support is somewhat happening - after much debate on it, as well! Though it may not look like it here, full-on Controller Support has been implemented, and polishing has started on making sure it all runs well! This has probably been the most challenging part of the Steam Release, mostly because it required me to make a lot of changes to the code structure of the original game... which is scary!
All in all though, it DOES work, and it's very cool. There's even some really funny gags I got to do with a controller being used, such as the cursor you see above you - or, better yet, the cursor that'd you'd use during Farmer's Serenade, more specifically when you're meant to hit the Playful Poodles. You can't use a mouse with a controller, so my solution?
A Flyswatter. Swat those pesky poodles away!

HOW'S... PROGRESS, THOUGH?
Glad you asked! If I had to give a percentage though... It's about at 20%, give or take...
"Wait, what?! How is that possible? This looks pretty complete to me!" I can probably hear all of you screaming! Let me explain!!
You see - if you're not active in PercyCord (the official PTwP-related community-ran server, which you should join!) or follow me on my Twitter, some of this stuff might have swooped over your head, and that's fine!...

...but the main reason why the Steam Release has taken as long as it has - is entirely because of something we're dubbing Project: Fred
Project: Fred is vague as of right now, both as a name and what I wish to disclose about it. However, we have NOT been silent about posting hints about it throughout the months - some of which you can see here. There's over about 20+ out of context images, developer screenshots, and more! This is just some of the more interesting ones I wanted to show. Some of these you may even recognize!
Project: Fred has been the main focus of the Steam Release, and has taken up most of the development time for us. Pairing that with the fact a lot of us are busy with our real jobs, trying to survive, all that jazz- you can see why it's taken so long! A lot of this year has been trying to organize Project: Fred and get that going, and 2026 is looking to be a great year for it, and the Steam Release as well.
And hopefully, with how vague I'm being here, you can maybe start to piece together what exactly it is... because I think it is something that you'll all be seriously surprised by once we're able to finally talk about it! :D
But alas, that's for another day!...

...After all, we don't want our plans to be sent to the graveyard, do we?
Now, before we go into our hidey-holes again and continue working at this game, I'd like to officially make some sort of information known...
As its to be expected: Playtime with Percy has grown a lot. Like, a lot. A lot more talent, care, and craft is behind the project now - but that's also been overwhelming me quite a bit! So though it was done... nearly a year ago now, I think - I'd like to officially welcome @amnotdonut
as the co-director for the project! She's been a very big help with the chaos behind all this and I just couldn't be more grateful to have some help with the new scope we have in-mind.
She'd also have something to say about it as well, so let's hear it from her!
"Hi all, Donut here! A lot has happened. Including, as Fazie said, becoming co-director! Pretty big jump up from just some beta tester, huh?
Truth is, the last year has been a TON of work. Been writing, modeling, animating, etc. Just check out the credits when the game drops. I'm on most of the categories! It's not just me either, everyone's been super hard at work the past year and I'm proud of the progress we've all made.
Now, I would like to address one thing: The wait. As Fazie said, Project: Fred has been taking up most of development time. While I can't say what exactly that is just yet, just know that, in my opinion, it blows everything we've made before out of the water in terms of quality. I really think you're all gonna love it! I'm sorry it's taken so long, and as much as I wish I could say the wait is almost over, it's not. Just know it will be worth it!
I'm really hoping 2026 is our year! I wanna reveal what we're doing to you all as soon as we possibly can! We've all been itching to talk about it, as you can probably tell from all the out of context teasers.
I'm extremely grateful to Fazie for the opportunity to work on all of this. It has been the most wonderful test of my skills I've ever had. But hey! It's Christmas, I've got some stuff to do, so I'd better wrap this up. Thank you all for your time, and for still being interested in the development of this little game!"
Whew, I almost thought we'd never get to the end of that!
Anyway, thank you guys for sticking around! I can't believe its been 2 years of this crazy game, and I'm so forever grateful people are behind us with the eventual move to Steam. It's a bit scary, but I'm sure we got this! It'll more that be worth the wait once you actually see what we've been doing. It's some seriously cool shit.
As always, the best place to stay updated is over at PercyCord - where I do just randomly decide to leak things whenever I feel bored, so that's your best bet to staying update! Furthermore, I will try to make my posts more consistent next year so people can remain in the loop, we'll see what happens.
That'll be all for now, here's to 2026!
