Hi... It's Oski here...
Let's get straight to the point...
I'm sorry for the state of the game...
I'm sorry for releasing such bugged Chapter...
I'm sorry for breaking your experience after such long wait for this Chapter...
This is my fault and I'm sorry! I'll understand if you will be mad at me...
I shouldn't have released this game. The truth is that before the release Henry's Son had big problems...
Here I'll explain the situation.
On August 29th, day before the planned release (30th), game was finished and for a while was in a testing phase. I did few general tests in editor (Unreal Engine) at first and then I wanted to move on to the normal tests in a packaged game.
There was a problem with this.
Packaging errors caused by a long name of 2 files.
I made the names shorter but it wasn't enough.
Engine counted the whole path to these files. This means also the folder names.
I decided to rename the folder names... This didn't end up well...
Now in the game editor there were 2 folders.
1st with shorter name and all files inside and 2nd with old long game and it was empty.
I deleted the empty one to don't make a mess in the editor.
Somehow it also broke the files from the ending sequences for the good ending.
I will not lie, I cried that day. I tried to fix the files but it was too late.
I spoke with my friends about this situation but there wasn't anything I could do.
Files were still in the game editor however editor couldn't find them somehow, so the levels these files were used in, got broken.
Here are few screenshots from my chat with my friend Sirgx3. (He's not the only one who I wrote to that day)
Next thing I did was to rename the new folder with the shorter name back to the old long name. I did it but then many files got deleted in the process and when I tried to import some of them from my PC this is what happened:
Editor didn't allow me to import them back.
This was one of the worst days in my life and it happened 1 day before the release.
At first I decided to delete the broken files and release a game with a less completed ending. It would still explain the story but it wouldn't give you this "wow, this is cool" effect.
In the end I made a decision to delay the game by 1 day and remake these deleted parts of the ending from scratch and that's what I did.
I took me 2 days to finish this ending. I finished it in the morning of August 31th.
Because of this whole situation I didn't spend that much time on testing as I wanted to in the first place. Game was tested however not as much as it was planned. I couldn't delay the game more because I wouldn't have time to work on it later. I also didn't want to let you down with another huge delay...
I'm sorry about this! Now all I can do it patch the bugs and hope you will forgive me and understand why game released in such state.
Sorry for this unsuccessful release of Chapter 5...
Sorry for letting you down....
