Been a while. Here's a quick update on what's been going on.


Hey y'all, Pnod here. Things have been pretty silent here for quite a while, and I just wanted to put out some of the things I've been thinking.

Right off the bat, I can't help but gush about how unfathomably awesome you guys are, and how grateful I still am for this little community I've stirred up. I'd have thought the game's daily views and downloads would have gone down over these months. I mean, the game came out in January, and the internet tends to get bored easily. But they haven't gone down one bit; if anything, they're somehow going even higher. That doesn't even make sense. Keep doing you, you.

So anyway, what the hell is going on with the game right now?

Well, to be honest, nothing, really.

As Kareem said a few weeks ago, there is an FNF mod in the works, and to be honest, I'm really not directing that. Like, at all. It's not that I don't have control over it; I do, I just haven't really implicated myself with it. Kareem is essentially the one taking care of the mod. Meanwhile I have been busy working on another game project (one that DOESN'T have to do with mice,) that'll probably come out sometime this Summer. So, development on Relapsed is on pause at the moment. Don't worry tho, once I am done with the other project, I intend to get back to working on SM:R for what I'm thinking will be the last update.

And lastly, as for what to expect from that last update...

I don't want to get your hopes down, but neither do I want to get them too high.

I'm still thinking of what exactly I want to change with it, but there probably won't be much in the way of, say, story content.

What I mean by that is... Well, okay, for those who remember, V1.0 came out a few months back. And back then, the final ending was Ending 5, where you GO TO HELL, and you KILL SATAN, and It's, like, this climactic, epic, final moment. The evil force at play is gone, it's dead. The nightmare is over. But then V1.2 came out, and with it, Ending 7, where it's revealed that OH WHAT A SURPRISE, Satan's not dead!!11! And you have a chase where he's EVEN SCARIER and the scene is EVEN MORE CLIMACTIC and EVEN MORE EPIC and you kill him again and it's EVEN MORE FINAL, and stuff. I feel that these two times, it worked well enough, but I don't want to make the game repetitive. I don't want to have Mickey keep killing Satan, just for him to keep coming back with an even more epic showdown. It's rehashing. I, also don't want to keep introducing more and more Disney characters to the overworld, hidden in more places, and you can kill them much the same for a gorey scene, or you can give them another flower to unlock a door that leads to another ending, or something... I don't want it to get boring, or stale, or formulaic, or {other_synonym}. This game has something special, at least to me, and I don't want that to be lost.

So, the last update will be more of an... Aesthetic overhaul, I think.

I just want to make the game look more lively (Or deathly, if that's how you like it.) Some of the game's artwork is SEVERAL months old at this point, and I just want to layer on a bit of extra immersion. It'll also have the Discord Integrations and Gamejolt Achievements as previously teased by Kareem. (Though I'm not certain if Controller Support will make the cut...) And of course, there may be some more secrets. Who knows? ;)

TL;DR,

A relatively "meh" update is probably coming in a few months. Sorry about that.

Oh, you're still here?

Well I guess you must really like me, or something, so like, here's a teaser for that other project. Progress is going pretty smoothly, and I can't wait to put it out there for the world. You'll all probably think it's crap, but ah well, what can ya do?

#FavoriteHorrorGame I know this isn't exactly a super unusual or unexpected pick, but honestly, Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion has always just been a favourite of mine. It's just such a delightful romp, with such personality. I'd be remissed to not pick it.

Progress on V1.5 has been going steady! Expect it to come out sometime during August. Don't leave just yet! Besides, there may be some... "surprises," in it, you could say. Stay tuned.

Had a lot of great #SummerMemory -s this year, but the one I'm gonna single out is that I got to go to my first ever Pride Parade! It was delightful, everyone there was super friendly. They were even giving out free sunscreen! Can't wait for next year

Happy #WIPWednesday! I've been working on a little game called Jake Fortress, a top-down shooter inspired by TF2. Actually, it's almost complete- I've just got to do a bit of last second bugfixing. The game comes out tomorrow, so... stay tuned for that!

New Update for RetroEx Redux! Along with slightly rebalancing the base game, this Update adds a new game mode called PentaEx, which allows you to play with up to 5 people! Inside a Pentagon, the coolest shape! Wowza!

So... Jake Fortress is officially out! This game has been an immense labour of love for me, so... I hope you enjoy it too. Aside from that... Have a good rest of your summer, y'all <3

Thank you for 200 followers! I ran out of words to express these feelings long ago, so I'll let Mickey do the talking. As stated before, there are still plans for this game. I'm expecting the update will come out sometime in Q4 2022. Stay tuned~
