It’s been way too long since I last made a game. I took a several-year long hiatus from Shelter: Nuage and tried to focus on my life. That didn’t work out too well. So I decided to focus on what I really wanted in life. So here I am making games.
Anyway, I decided that I should go ease myself back into the whole “games thing” by revisiting To The Stars and finally getting around to updating it. I planned on updating and adding levels, but I instead added animations—a task I would soon realize was harder than I originally thought. It took me almost two weeks, but it’s finally here:
Update:
v.1.2.0
- Added walking animation and fire animation
- Added creepy sound effects in fire
- Added random wall and debris sprites
- Fixed issue where player could not step on save point
- Adjusted Win parameters to be more precise
These updates will be added in the following week. I have a few things I need to take care of first IRL, but I’ll be back!
The only thing I’m not completely satisfied with is the slight input delay. If you try to input commands faster than 1 command in every 0.2 seconds, then the game won’t read anything but the first command and disregard the succeding inputs until the next 0.2 seconds. It’s a terribly minor thing, but you’ll see its effects when there’s a ton of fire sprites in a level. It just forces you to move a bit slower, and you can’t spam input that fast anymore.
Other than that, I’m pretty happy with what I’ve done. I’ll get around to doing the added/updated levels eventually. I’d really like to fix the difficulty curve and add more stages with the wife in them. I don’t want the game to be terribly long though, so I need to plan a lot more with that.
Either way, Keep on playin’!!
