The sci-fi concept isn’t new, but I have focused my time on the physics of the bowling ball and the pins and how they interact. A lot of time has gone into researching this and WoW, it’s not just a ball moving down a lane towards the pins. The learning here for me was in the understanding that Unity or gameplay physics is not real world, only just in the appearance or behaviour of the game objects.
I wanted the player to have as much control as possible, so the ball is thrown by a zero to 45 degree rotation towards the player. The speed of this transition affects the speed of the ball down the lane.
