The Conflict
This month has been a bit rough in terms of development for Careful, for starters this month I started going to school again as my vacations ended, and I've also been putting some work into a small side project, but besides all that, I've been frankly demotivated. Not because I don't want to work on Careful anymore, but because of all the work a game that size means, specially in more complex engines like Gamemaker, which, admittedly, are not really super complex, but have a lot more of logical and programming work behind it all compared to RPG Maker. Don't take me wrong, I've learned a lot of coding and programming due to being forced to adapt to Gamemaker, but the more I learnt the more I realize that it would be impossible for me to in a reasonable amount of time create Careful in said engine, even if a single chapter. But, what does this mean for Careful's state?
These past few months
Since moving from RPG Maker and sincerely, since the rebranding of Careful, there has been a lot of fundamental stuff being changed, from core parts of the story, to core parts of the gameplay. And it's ALL for the absolute better of the game, having improved a lot since. But what this means is also that some parts of the game that were back then set in stone, are now debatably able to change, pulling the game back to a conceptual stage. This is not to say that the game is absolutely conceptual, most of the gameplay is already pretty well thought and the story of the first parts of the game are basically already written and finished, but it does mean that the more technical progress has been greatly delayed and set in the background, and this is also because, back to the Gamemaker topic, the game due to its size/length and gameplay complexity is highly difficult to execute and code, leaving me as the solo programmer and developer in an engine I'm basically a beginner in, really disorientated and overwhelmed.
Careful Status
All this talk is NOT to say that Careful is cancelled, not in the slightest, this is a game and an idea I love and I will make it happen one way or another, but I do want to say that the next update on the situation will very likely not be the next month, and I will only start posting updates once there is substantial progress on the game. Who knows, maybe it will be next month, maybe in 2 months, maybe in 4 months, who's to say, but I do want to leave clear that there will be a hiatus in updates for a more or less undefined amount of time until Careful has significant progress. During this stage I will probably make tough and crucial decisions that might or might not change concepts of the game for the sake of it's completion.
So that would be all for now, as I said, I will be updating you as soon as there are big enough news about the development, thank you for reading and thank you for sticking along. See you in next update
