I SHOULD mention that the entire story was already overhauled a month ago. I have the entire Ease lore written down in a single document. However, recently, i've begun to rethink the entire Ease series. Everything game past Ease 1 is being completely rethought. Everything is being expanded and planned out.
Rethinking the Godot change
Also, yes, I know I said I would create the game in Godot but I am having second thoughts. See, remember that i'm one person working on this game on my free time (except for occasional art and music help). Godot is way more difficult than I thought. Is it doable? Yes, I believe that I can learn Godot. HOWEVER, by time I actually LEARN Godot enough to start creating the game, it will probably already be around October at best. So, if I WERE to move the game to Godot, heres my rough estimate for how things would go:
6 months to learn Godot enough to port the games (making prototypes and playing around with the engine to gain familarity, this step might be able to get skipped but I find stuff easier if I mess around with it first)
1-2 month (at best) actually porting everything to Godot
1 month rewriting the game for Godot
3-4 months creating Ease 5/Ease 3D II and learning 3D.
Basically, I would have to delay the game by roughly a year and a half. So, I am kind of torn. I have been considering moving back to Clickteam simply because this game doesn't necessarily NEED to be a "Godot" game. Adding Godot as a factor just confuses and overcomplicates things. Originally, I thought about moving to Godot because of Clickteam's business model of selling DLC for everything and having to use a ton of plugins. However, Ease Collection barely even uses plugins (except for advanced platform object and a couple others). By the way, Ease Collection probably would not change much AT all from the Clickteam version if I were to move it to Godot (except for the obvious change in Ease 5 being 3D). I am thinking of creating another poll post JUST for the followers of this game. I shared the poll to many communities who had no clue about this games existance. However, that was probably not a good move because they were most likely judging based on engine superiority rather than the best choice for the game itself.
Basically, I am thinking about just moving back to Clickteam Fusion 2.5 and moving to Godot in the future for the rest of my projects.
Every game will be overhauled
Thats right! EVERY game will be getting a remake. Not just Ease 1-4. This may seem VERY ambitious at first, but don't worry because the scale of these overhauls will most likely vary a TON AND I plan to make a document when I get ideas for levels and stuff.
For example, Ease 1 was just three screens, thus, it needed a massive overhaul.
Ease 2 was VERY quick to remake due to the game's simplistic nature.
Ease 3 will be getting expanded.
Ease 4 will just be getting massively expanded and rethought.
Ease 5 will be getting ported to 2D and still keeping its original 8 levels. However, changes will be made to the levels to avoid copying Spidertest.
Ease 6 will be getting rethought too, with around 7 levels planned in the Jungle and an interactive shooting sequence the end to destroy Ifei's castle.
Ease 7 and 8 will be getting merged due to taking place back to back and being incredibly short. The character's stories will also be getting expanded.
Ease 9... will be a top-down short exploration puzzle game (kind of like riddle school) where Ease has to reclaim several Easeland energy sources from Ifei.
Ease 10 will remain basically the same except for expansions and the removal of the "Ifei being a dot thing" because thats just weird.
Ease 11 will be getting quite a bit of changes. The dialouge will be made less stupid. Ease's gun is interesting, because Lilo actually created a "power-up" for Ease. Inside Ease's "mouth" will be a yellow blaster with blue dots in the shape of an Ease. Here is a model made by @TheLiloDevelopmentTeam just so you know what I'm talking about.
Also... The Creator isn't me, that plot point was just too meta and dumb. He is just a scientist from Alaska. The levels will most likely be expanded too. Level 7 will be completely revamped of course though.
Ease 12 will be kind of like a side scrolling Ease 9.
Ease 13 will be staying the same except for major bug fixes and new artwork.
Ease 14 will also be staying the same except for better physics and a new background.
This is obviously subject to change. BEFORE you think this is overly ambitious. Remember, Super Mario Bros Wii has 76 levels. ALL of these games combined have around 100 levels, which are nowhere near the level of Super Mario Bros Wii, more on par with something like Super Meat Boy. The game is still planned to release December 2024.
The game's music
The music is being completely overhauled. Actually, the music has been overhauled like 3 times. The first time was when I swapped the copyrighted music in the original games out for 10 second loops with google's music maker. The second time is when I tried to actually make coherent music tracks with beepbox. The third time was the charm. I found a music program called Bosca Ceoil that was perfect for me and this game. In my opinion, I feel like I have produced several bangers with it (Cyclone's theme, Frostburn, City, Dream's Demise, and Death Battle) but everyone's music taste is different so idk.
The game's art
What did you expect? Of course its being overhauled! The original art was colored shapes, now its actually objects. The city used to be a gray rectangle with a cyan background. Now, its city bricks as a floor and buildings in the background. Feels way better with the bopping city track in the background. The grasslands is personally my favorite though, although I can't get its music quite right. The art overhaul started when I discovered GraphicsGale (Noticing a pattern? Overhauls happen when I find new software lol)
The game's story
I can't give away too much of course. Really, all I was doing was creating a coherent story with what was already given. I didn't really change the games that much. More like, I reinterpreted them to create a timeline that actually made sense. Ease 11 is obviously a prequel to the series, which I used to my advantage when writing the story. Other than that, it goes in order starting from Ease 1. Also, I created an two epic boss battles to serve as the finale to the entire Ease series.
The game's coding
The only way this would be truly overhauled is if I switched to Godot (NOTICING A PAT-), however, due to my rethinking switching to Godot, I don't think the code will be truly overhauled. HOWEVER, I actually learned that I WAS using clickteam wrong. You can actually group your coding and make notes. I was also using the event manager instead of the streamlined editor, which should make coding more efficient.
Other overhauls around Ease
Well, obviously Ifei 6 is done, so thats amazing for the Ifei series. I already overhauled the Ease & Ifei community and I plan to overhaul the Ease website next, adding current information.
A small Ease NESMaker/GBStudio game is currently being drafted alongside an Ease prologue comic. The comic is currently planned to appear on the new Ease website and may be dubbed by voice actors on the upcoming Ease youtube channel. This will be updated in a new post.
