So with the recent reveal to DotD's (Dawn of the Dimetrix - IRIS' next album) release window, I figured I'd reveal some concept art to one of the game's newest monsters: The Hollowed.
This creature has a regular humanoid structure - but deep down is a feral beast waiting to get the jump on it's prey. In it's regular from, it remains an empty monster that hunts it's prey in a zombie-like manner. Sometimes when it's jaw is open - surviving victims reported seeing an eye at the center.
It's jaw - while gargantuan, also serves a broader purpose than just feeding. Upon grabbing it's prey's head, it drains the memories and DNA of it's victim to replicate it's form and utilize their intelligence to blend in - but only for so long. If it's disguise runs out - it returns to it's feral state, taking the opportunity to take it's next target.
This creature is a representation of the feeling that there's more to someone than they appear to be - like they're about to hit you hard at your most vulnerable moment, even if it's simple overthinking.
Also, fun fact - this creature is also based on a concept I made up for my final Thesis project at FDU. However - because the pandemic had just started, I couldn't fully broaden the possibilities for the final product.
