Hello Dracomata here and I would like to point out some things. And this is actually thanks to FruitSlime. They did in fact send me a link to where she posted all bugs they found in game and a few questions and well I should probably point out what was intentional and which is not. Because some of these are actually not bugs and are intentional, also they added some questions as
Mechanical bugs noted-
=Lighter acts as hitting the bell with the bat when used outside of key areas - Teleports to ‘farm’ area regardless of if the wind temple was previously visited.
Ok…that’s just weird…that’s a definite fix…
=Walking into an enemy doesn’t delay hit damage. Player can die instantly upon front contact unless intended.
Yeah that is something to fix however some enemies do infact attack for their intended amount such as the Dead Students upon play testing the candle event in the third floor will in fact do one damage however you should probably not stay near them for too long for Noroinoko only has 10 hp and yes some enemies are intended to kill upon contact, just not all of them.
=Player and character positions appear off-axis; perhaps too high up compared to other RPGMaker titles.
I got the original base from online which was a 4 by 4 for one character when RPG VX required 3 by four for eight characters, however the off axis is most likely due to the fact that the base is in fact spread out and not close together like other sprites which is why edited sprites like wolves and Nyanyo are correct and other like Hiato, and Noroinoko are not.
=Accessing certain areas may stunt progression. (ex. Could no longer access the vase with the feather after talking to the demon in the Wind Temple first)
Ok…I am pretty sure that is a bug or the game thinks you’ve already checked the pot…
=Leaving and re-entering Yoyo’s basement before finding the staff results in multiple lamps.
That was not intended,in fact some one else noticed it also, that will be fixed in hopefully the next of future updates.
=Cariko requested her tarot cards again after a certain point of progression, no longer offering hints. (Found previously)
Cariko will in fact ask for her cards if you have not gotten them already for she needs them in order to activate the event for your first encounter with the burned spirit, partly because they are supposed to tell her what your supposed to do next for she has no idea, if you have in fact already gotten the cards and she asks for them again then yes its a bug.
=Gaps in the wooden wall of the school hallway (3rd floor) can be walked into.
That,that’s 100% a bug.
=Accessing the school roof replaces current BGM until the building is re-entered.
=A few spelling/grammar checks, I’m not snippy about those c:
I’m not great at spelling and for future reference this will be a joke for ie or house sounds almost the same as iie or no, and Noroinoko on occasion will be confused between the two partly because it takes place in japan and they are speaking in Japanese and also because of the feeling one gets when watching foreign things like undubbed anime or (mostly) German recordings for school which are in fact a little tricky to understand because of how fast they are talking. (No Noroinoko does not have mental problems just really confusing one word for another like you hear something that the other person said but what they really said is not what you heard. Such as <”Your torturing me with lotions,” When in reality motions was said instead of lotions.)
=Wardrobe trap can be activated from the side, does not fall onto the player but results in death.
That is currently a bug, possibly in the future if you have obtained the cutting knife (AKA the blood covered object that you see in the middle of the room that you enter when you enter the third floor of the hospital) you might be able to use it to get certain items out of places which seem dangerous.
=When entering Kimiyaki’s house at night, endless loop of “Nobody is home”.
The Nobody is home part is correct. The loop however is the bug…
=Difficulty in the area below the Restaurant. Zombie’s attack range seemed larger than usual.
This was done intentionally if you mean they deal more damage. As you progress the game will most likely get harder also the spirits in the basement are different than that of the Dead Students in fact they are Noppera-bo or faceless ghost which is why they both have a similar appearance but they have no face in general or injuries.Generally inspired by Misao in appearance, however thanks to the curse they do in fact have a physical body and perhaps it was my own little joke for there are 3 that kill you in Misao and the deal 3 damage when they attack.
=Alarm clock at beginning of game appears to loop/stack audio.
This is in fact intended, mainly to annoy the player enough to where they want the noise to stop so they would go turn it off to stop the noise, however for some reason when it was originally an event, the game refused to work correctly when turning of the alarm clock was a must, however this might be changed to where the alarm clock and turning it off is a must if it does not hinder game play (like that moment you do it, you warp and for some random reason you can’t do anything.)
=Yoyo’s speed could be slowed a bit. Slight difficulty when trying to initiate a conversation.
Noticed but I’m not exactly sure if your talking about Cariko (which I have a lot of trouble trying to talk to when doing the event when you find out about the tarot cards). But I will admit Hiato is not the only one who probably needs more speed adjustments.
=Damage could use additional visual feedback. Some players with lowered audio may not notice.
Yeah,I should probably do that.
=Spirit flame and help text appears during lighter flashback.
…I should probably hide those however the help text might remain however due to the past not yet revealed that Noroinoko has with some of the spirits of the town, in fact befriending one in particular, however this ability to see spirits was temporarily blocked, partly thanks to the effects of the medication so it might be possible that the text was there the whole time. Also another thing is that Noroinoko most likely had the ability to see spirits at the time which is before she began taking her medication, however without doing so, Noroinoko will regain the ability for the drug is not masking that ability but if she took the medication she would not have been able to see the burned spirit which is the reason she decides going to the hospital is a good idea, convinced she’s starting to hallucinate.
=Reasoning as to why you can’t access locked areas or extra direction may help. Riddles are handy, but players may not like to rely on them. (Perhaps the opposite in the Wind Temple, the area is small enough to be a short puzzle)
That is probably a good idea. One of the main reasons though is that Noroinoko will see no reason to go to a new area if she doesn’t have to, also this gives players a fixed route to go to school and might also help with progression because if you just unlocked it, then chances are you should go there.
=Separating certain lines into their own text boxes could add more tension where necessary, relevant to school conversations.
That sounds like a good idea.
=Backpack does not show as an object.
The function of it is to activate the ability of using your menu so think of it as the menu is the backpack. It is not an item for it is quite literally your menu, which is one of the main reason you can only access items when opening it other than checking your HP.The backpack is not an object but more of game function your not using yet (until you get it that is).
=Candles that appear in Noroinoko’s room turn into lamps when interacted with.
That’s not intentional however unlike others should be an easy fix.
Story/Continuinity questions-
=Was Yoyo waiting for you to exit the hospital? (Did she hear something/Did too much time pass?)
In all honesty yes. However this will be explained later in the game which is currently not done yet but lets just say,she was not outside on a random whim and who knows how long you’ve actually been asleep for. Also the origin of the town’s curse will also be explained later as well as well as how Orochi was there in the first place. But she probably realized that by your expression while you where in the basement that you had literally seen a ghost and while she knows you curse’s effects and the fact you did not take your medication (she was one table across, she most likely heard your conversation) she had a pretty good idea of one of your possible courses of action. After getting out of the woods (I’m not telling why she was there) with little to no injuries other than a few scratches, she would have noticed by then you probably woke up and went to the hospital. She was actually about to go in there herself to get you out when you came out almost dead.
=Perhaps a way to make the toilet stand out better? Turns out I had missed it entirely on the first play through (Hints did not denote it after acquiring the lighter)
This was actually a puzzle inspired by Misao, you know when your in the girl’s bathroom and your trying to figure out what your doing to get the right event you want (which is the little girl spirit showing up) well in this case its similar.Being really the only bathroom in game, you check each toilet to see what would happen.Which would be why Noroinoko comments that nothing weird happened yet because she was expecting one to happen by then. Also your supposed to have done the bathroom event before attempting to get the lighter itself (the lighter fluid however you do get before then)
=It may be a bit strange to be patched up in a basement. Maybe if that’s where the medical supplies are, otherwise why not Yoyo’s or Noroinoko’s room?
Yoyo did this mainly because of a few reason such as the basement in in fact a maze but no dangers are present to injure Yoyo or the injured Noroinoko. The hospital is well at this point a catalyst of the Dead Students,an enemy characterized as black faces however with red grins (with the exception for one of them) and red bleeding eyes with injuries that have caused death, the hospital thanks to the curse would be one of the few places you would not want to go even if it is logical. Also if you have been to Yoyo’s room you will see a demon that is passive however mainly in that room which is a low ranked Kappa, the possibility of the Kappa possibly injuring Noroinoko even further and possibly killing her, was a risk that Yoyo obviously did not want to take as for why not take Noroinoko home is because Yoyo has no idea if Noroinoko’s home is safe.
=Perhaps I missed something, but was there anything to do in the restaurant? I couldn’t find an event after it opened up, unless it involved going underground.
Actually yes however mainly so underground and possibly in the future even above ground. In the basement you are supposed to get the meat.
=It may make more sense to create a light opacity as opposed to dark overlay when the lamp is active in lighted areas.
I have attempted to make my own before but I had no idea what I was going, nor any idea on how to work it, this might be fixed in later updates, however I did find one online, and well that’s the problem with it.
=Do you play bullet hell games? I heard a lot of Bad Apple in there xD
I play Undertale. However according to the English lyrics people put on YouTube I found that it would in fact be a good theme for Noroinoko who is confused and begins to question everything she thought she knew as she finds out the biggest secret in game, what the curse she has been living with for her whole life really is.
However these are the bugs out of the list:
=Lighter acts as hitting the bell with the bat when used outside of key areas - Teleports to ‘farm’ area regardless of if the wind temple was previously visited.
=Walking into an enemy doesn’t delay hit damage. Player can die instantly upon front contact unless intended.( Depending on enemy)
=Accessing certain areas may stunt progression. (ex. Could no longer access the vase with the feather after talking to the demon in the Wind Temple first)
=Leaving and re-entering Yoyo’s basement before finding the staff results in multiple lamps.
=Cariko requested her tarot cards again after a certain point of progression, no longer offering hints.(Might be that the cards where not in her possession yet)
=Gaps in the wooden wall of the school hallway (3rd floor) can be walked into.
=Wardrobe trap can be activated from the side, does not fall onto the player but results in death.
=Accessing the school roof replaces current BGM until the building is re-entered. (but then agian it does not have its own theme…huh…maybe school needs a theme)
=When entering Kimiyaki’s house at night, endless loop of “Nobody is home”.
=Yoyo’s speed could be slowed a bit. Slight difficulty when trying to initiate a conversation.(Said can be said for several characters)
=Damage could use additional visual feedback. Some players with lowered audio may not notice.
=Candles that appear in Noroinoko’s room turn into lamps when interacted with.
