DEVELOPMENT LOG NO.2 | PHASE 1 IS COMPLETE

Happy 10th birthday, 2 Ants 1 President! (If we're counting the date that the trailer originally released.) I'm sure you've all been waiting for a proper devlog forever now, especially considering this games notorious instances of failure... but that wait comes to an end today!


PART 1: DEVELOPMENT OVERVIEW.

Now that we're in full throttle, other parts of the game have begun work/were completed! As I've mentioned before, the writing for the game as a whole is complete down to the last line of dialogue.

Fine-tunes may be done on the script later down the line but that's just a basic rule of my own stuff; never expect it to be the final product ever.

The entire game has been planned out in the same document, meaning we know exactly what we want to do for the game as a definitive vision as the love letter it intends to serve as for 2 Ants 1 President.

I will not disclose much as there are many surprises to be revealed later, however I am comfortable with disclosing basic info.

Music: There are 20 tracks in the soundtrack overall. The general battle themes are all complete with some intermission content yet to be composed.

Endings: There are 4 endings in total, one of which can be discovered in Phase 1. This also accounts for the 2 main endings of the game which you will get to experience at the end of the fight, when everybody is worn out and ready to throw in the towel.

Reflection: This game is meant to reflect the pain and grief of a 2 Ants 1 President fan never having received news on the state of the show for 8 years straight. Either that, or the pain of someone who became a fan only to learn that it's been dead in a ditch for nearly a decade.

Easter Eggs: Oh lord there will be MANY. I'm still not done brainstorming them yet!

However, I have good news that is much more than just plans.


PART 2: PHASE 1 IS COMPLETE.

That is correct, my friends. Once coding progress was migrated to PUARENGINE V.6, aka Alex's Framework, I got Phase 1 completed in a matter of a SINGLE MONTH.

To fill you in on how impressive that is for someone like me; LIMELIGHT took a year to finish with 18 attacks, but Phase 1 of Premature End is stocked with 16 attacks, each with some form of their own mechanic.

This is to be expected, however- Phase 1 is merely the beginning, so it is supposed to be the simpler part of the fight. Phase 2 is where shit starts to fly off the rails.

Now, as mandatory in Team Hedge devlog culture, we shall show off a bit of the Phase 1 fight in GIF form.

An obvious improvement from the original intro back in its Clickteam-based development era. Just imagine the soul put into this game!

In the heat of the moment, Hally focuses on intimidation or looking cool to try to deter ENA from their task. This, unfortunately, traps the two into their own battle.

PART 3: PHASE 2 PROGRESS.

Since Phase 1 is complete, we've been setting our sights on Phase 2 for a while now. Not much has been done, but we think we're doing a good job so far!

PART 5: SONG RELEASES

Around a month ago, I teased the final update to ATHAZAGORAPHOBIA by releasing its intro: Heart to Heart. I had intended to gatekeep the rest of the update until the game released, but with the fixed goals of the game and its ambition, that will not be happening for quite some time.

So, why not release the rest now? I'd like to introduce to you the final update to ATHAZAGORAPHOBIA, or as it is now called, FORGET-ME-NOT. (Inspired by a comment left on version 1's upload by fellow team member @ribimaka .)

Why change the title of the song? Well... it was a consideration for a while since people had said that the title was long or that it only fueled the stereotype that UTC music composers only picked fears for their titles... so I decided to rebrand one more time.

Alongside the release of the new ATHAZAGORAPHOBIA update, I've also created the official soundtrack page for this game, which you can check out right here!

And of course you wouldn't think that this was a successor to LIMELIGHT if Bot wasn't latched to the account as well, which is why I've very politely asked them to leech on Hally's fame.

PART 6: FINAL THOUGHTS FOR NOW.

I want to thank everyone for their support on this game, even if the game proved a bit unstable on its first few months. It totally paid off in the end, wouldn't you agree?

Your patience will pay off well soon. I estimate a good release date for this game would be somewhere in 2027, given how fast we're going! (I could have totally jinxed that. Oh well, we'll see eventually.)

Even if I jinxed it, I'm never cancelling this game. I have something in my life that ensures that. (thanks idooodle!!!!)
