Development Update, Trailer & Demo Release Date!


Howdy everyone. Sorry again for releasing this update so late. As mentioned in the last post, I got a bit burned out, so I decided to slow down a little bit. I should have made a post about it earlier.

Anyway, it's here now. And what better day to do it than on Freddy, the bear himself's birthday! FNaF is now 11 years old. Crazy.

Demo Release Date??? For real?

Yes, for real.

FREDDY'S SPONTANEOUS DAY JOB 2 DAY DEMO WILL RELEASE AUGUST 20TH.

Sorry to keep you all waiting for so long. It's been a bumpy ride, but we're almost there.

Here is what will be available in the demo:

Day 1 & 2

Nightshift 1 & 2

Jimmy's Substory

Sunburn Man's Substory

1 Arcade Game

We also had to cut some things out to make this demo work. They will be available in the full game, but not in the demo.

Things such as:

Office Computer (Still extremely unfinished. It's necessary to have, but not for day 1 & 2.)

Groovin' time (I'll go over this later in the post.)

All other Arcade games (They're not complete yet, plus there are some things inside them I'd prefer to keep a surprise for now.)

And a few other unannounced features (which are also unfinished.)

That's all that we cut out for the demo.


What about the FULL GAME?! When's THAT COMING OUT? HUH?

Hopefully not too long after the demo! We just need to finish up the stuff mentioned before, and then add all of the cutscenes for the days afterward and substories. There's a bit left but the hardest parts are mostly done by now. I expect to finish the game this year. I'll keep you posted on that.


Development Log

Okay, let's go over what we've been working on.

Basically, everything you've seen in the trailer is what we've been working on. The trailer ended up being a lot bigger and longer than originally anticipated, but I think it turned out really nice.

You may have noticed some things in the trailer that you haven't seen before. Like...

Groovin' Time.

Groovin' Time is a new feature. I got the idea randomly one day, and decided to make it a real thing.

You can go on stage and groove out. You can do this as Kiwi or Cactus Man. If you pull in a crowd, they will start throwing tokens at you! But be careful, you only have so much energy. If you pass out on-stage, you'll lose everything you earned. Especially as Cactus Man. Be EXTRA CAREFUL INSIDE IT. For obvious reasons... But you earn more when inside Cactus Man! So it's kinda a high risk-high reward thing!

And yes, Kiwi and Cactus man are pre-rendered.

Difficulties with Groovin' Time

Groovin' Time has been a nightmare to program. It's SEVERELY underbaked, and not fully functional. So I've decided to cut it out of the demo and finish it afterward. It's not the only way to earn experience and money, so it's fine.

Arcade Games

Our main focus is arcade games now. In the trailer you can see one of them, Fazbear Deployment. Right now it's the only completed arcade game, so it will be the only one available in the demo.

The Nightshift

The nightshift is complete. (For the demo anyway...) But we have been working on some small touches here and there.

Testing

We're going to have people test the game a week before the demo drops. At first we'll keep it to close friends, but we might reach out to others closer to the release.

Still on vacation. (With my mom, dad, and brother.) Currently staying in an Atlantic City hotel. (Pretty fancy.) I got a little bored of just sitting around in this room, and decided to post this Kiwi I drew at some point during the long car ride.
