TLDR: DA's chat is unfinished so since you can't lock it you always get spam messages. The actual users uses the Note function despite being archaic.

DeviantArt is commonly known as a fetish and man-child safe web.
But for me it's not only that but also a site where a chat system STILL BEING ON BETA AFTER 5 YEARS can have beautiful messages like these.
