So for the main story of the game (is this me hinting that there may be more ohohohohoh) there are 3 routes you can take. The Love Route, Friendship Route and the Heartbreaker Route. I guess you can compare them to the Pacificist Route, Neutral Route and Genocide Route…except that’d be wrong, because if you play your cards right, you’ll be able to start a Genocide Route in this game, too.
Of course you’ll be seeing a lot of the characters you’ve come to know and love, but differently of course. There was definitely artistic liberties taken since in this AU the Monsters have human forms, but they are definitely Monsters at heart. But some background stories have been tweaked to fit the AU. Because, lbr here, if I did everything the same as Undertale itself, might as well just quit now and let you guys play the original game. =p
This being a visual novel I had to get a little creative with things, so I hope people don’t mind the changes. For instance, Toriel’s home. While what you see in the original game works for it, the lack of certain details doesn’t quite cut it for FLIRTINGTALE.
(Frisk’s bedroom - WIP)
The fallen child’s bedroom, for example, had to be changed to look like a more modern day bedroom. Instead of being located on the main floor, it’s also moved up to the second floor, which meant I had to make Toriel’s home a two story. It’s evident in the next WIP background picture.
(Upstairs hall - WIP)
The fallen child’s bedroom door can be seen here in a hallway/stairway that leads to the main floor which will eventually lead to the rest of the Underground. There are elements in the pictures to reference the original, to give it the feel of this place being Toriel’s home.
(Kitchen - WIP)
It’s all about the little touches.
Anyways, just a heads up on what’s to come.
Hopefully I can hash out some more backgrounds to at least release Toriel’s sequence as a demo or an early, unfinished build or something.
GOTTA STAY DETERMINED.
