[Devlog 1] - Some Clarifications


Hi everyone, I hope you all enjoyed Fangame Direct! I definitely have, but that's not the post's main point. I have SO MUCH to explain, so much so that I don't even know where to start. You may have to sit down for this one, it'll probably be a lengthy read. Just a reminder, I'm not trying to seek attention.


What's the story behind this?

The idea of REPTILAND has been stuck in my head since mid-2020, but I started working on it in late 2021, initially, it was more of an FNAF 1 game with small tweaks with reptile animatronics until it got rebooted in July this year. For this reboot I wanted to challenge myself to model EVERYTHING (including props), every prop has been modeled by me so far. Which was a good idea and also a bad idea, not only it taught me so much about 3D modeling, but it made me feel overworked. The entirety of the map is still not finished as we speak.

I don't want the previous version to go to waste, nobody would wanna, right? Because of that, I'll make a post about the previous version of it at some point in the future. Fun fact! There's a near-finished reveal trailer of that version so it would be cool to show it at some point as well.

Now let's talk about the whole Fangame Direct shtick, I was officially added to the event at the time when I started working on the reboot (late July - early August). Martin approached me a few months before I was officially added so I was aware of what I was getting myself into. I had higher hopes for my trailer, I wanted it to have actual gameplay, but it just simply didn't work out, due to me feeling overworked, school, and editing videos for my friend (I get paid for them). These past 3 months have been so chaotic for me, as much as I'm ashamed of saying this, I had an episode because of it, there were more reasons but I won't talk about those. I was too harsh on myself because I wanted more for my trailer. Then I got extremely sick shortly after the episode, and I freaked out. I was hesitating to drop out of the event, but I want to thank @fredinator1 for stopping me and telling me to just show what I have and cut corners. It gave me a thought, "this could be a one-time opportunity, sure you'll feel relieved but you would regret it if you drop out". So I chose not to. I'm sorry if anyone felt disappointed, in a way. I mean it, like I said, I myself had higher hopes for my trailer. I just have to sit and cope with it now. I'm not trying to give Fangame Direct a bad name, it's just a mistake on my part. Not like if the reception was negative, not at all. It was somewhat positive which was a relief for me!

What about Project: Freddy 2, is that thing still alive?

Yes, do not worry. Hear me out, as stupid as it may sound but revealing REPTILAND before releasing Project: Freddy 2 is a part of a plan, can't say yet in what way, but you'll have to wait and see. Now when is Project: Freddy 2 releasing? Definitely not this year, sadly. I hate myself for giving out so many release dates and straight up missing them, that's also another thing I wanted to apologize for. I'll just let you guys know when it's ready.


I won't be focusing much on this game at the moment because I want to finish Project: Freddy 2 first, but that doesn't mean it's fully delayed, I'll work on this whenever I'll feel like it.

Oh yeah! One more thing! The name Cody has nothing to do with Ultranite lol.

I'm sorry yet again for starting out with this type of post, but I wanted to get this out of my chest.

But on a positive note I wanna thank you all for the huge support for this game, almost 200 followers in under a day, you guys are awesome! I hope you guys also support other games that were in the event because they deserve it more than I do. <3
