Firstly, thank you to everyone showing interest in what I'm currently making, your support means the world to me, I appreciate all of you. It took a lot out of me to finally reveal what exactly I’ve been cooking up.
And unfortunately, I understand the bad timing of this page release (which was not done with any other intent besides the fact its my birthday), especially what the community is going through right now. But I hope via this game or not, that I can at least make one person have a better day. :)
Now with that out of the way, what exactly is this game?
This game, to sum it up mostly, is a standalone Five Nights at Freddy's inspired horror game that (if you couldn't tell) has a constant theme surrounding the games main mechanic; the Pal Percy; A Tamagotchi-like device where you can feed, drink, and play with your best friend forever!
This device is needed to beat the night. You no longer have to wait 6 minutes for the night to end, if you're quick enough, you can end it whenever you want! Just make sure to keep the Pal Percy happy. Whenever your Pal gets upset, it'll start to get angry, and when that happens... Well, It's better if you didn't know.
Alongside that, I have taken a lot (if not all) of the criticisms from my past works, both graphically and gameplay wise (even if some people actually never played them!) and applied them here. Some notable features and changes are that:
Playtime with Percy is drawn in a completely new art-style, no longer looking like vector art you would see on Scratch. We're still using the method to draw the bases like from The Banana Splits: Serial Silliness, but each room is made to pop out more, and no longer limited to mostly dark and grey colors. I also would like to point out that the character will not be drawn in the same way that game did them (which was tracing the base pose over and over).
New sound-design provided by @PieceOfKake , as well as generally more consistent sounds. We aim to make Playtime with Percy sound nicer, as well as not have too many ear-ringing sound effects, apart from the jumpscares, of course. I understand that the sound design (among other things) were lackluster, and frankly, sloppy. So I hope taking as much feedback as possible will prove to make this project the best it can be.
While I can't reveal much about how Playtime with Percy works mechanically, most of the mechanics tied to a Counter / Alt. Value can be changed in the Custom Night Menu, giving for a true Custom Night, instead of just changeable character AI values (which are still there!). I can say that apart from one character (or two, depending how you look at it), each character is mechanically distinct from one another.
There's also a complete start-to-finish narrative for those to follow. We aim to tell a short story about the fall of Percy & Co. via in-game cutscenes and even some gameplay elements. We hope you can follow through, even if you only play games for the gameplay! It’s a pretty grounded story, with cutscene visuals being done by @TheFrothingToast ! They look really cool so far, I think you’ll like them!
Me and the team have been working our butts off at delivering the best game we can make. I truly hope that anyone against that bats a second eye into giving this game a chance to prove itself. With realistic expectations, of course.
I hope everyone follows through and stays tune for what I have planned, we're actively still in development every day. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. I'll answer any questions I can in the comments.
Thanks for showing your support, see you soon!
