Devlog #5 - Menu, new recruits, planning...

Game menu under testing!

I've just finished the menu. I asked a few friends to test it and so far results and reviews have been very positive!

I have to face it, I made it way too complex, but menus are the first thing players will see, so it has to leave a good impression.

Although showing a few preview would be dope, I think I will follow some's advice and keep its look a mystery until release, even if it's a small portion, a button... I think it's best for you to fully experience the entire thing yourself!

A few words about the code, I learnt a some new and cool things, such as:

  • Managing files and folders: saving files/images from the internet in a temporary folder, and load them to display your profile picture for example.

  • Using Gamejolt's databases (API) for sending/storing/fetching data: you will be able to log in with Gamejolt to save your scores and compete with others!

  • A lot about object scoping: how to manage and select specific duplicated objects, one of the most confusing things in Clickteam in my opinion.

  • Key-signed files: that I will use for signing your save file so that it checks if illegal changes were made, so u can't ruin the game for yourself (and because I have no clue how to use the Ini++ object)
Haven't done it yet, but hopefully it will be a thing.

I'm definitely feeling clickteam's limits, the filters/effects/shaders aren't that advanced and I haven't learned how to code them: I have to export most of the images in advance with all of the effects and use a bunch of different softwares, it definitely takes time.

New voice actors

I've reached out to voice actors, youtubers and even some fans, telling them that I was looking for 2 new actors who would play an in-game character. One of them is a character that will have their voice changed from their previous, and the other is character who you haven't heard much from lately.

Soon I will send the lines to the people auditioning, we'll go through them and pick the best ones! Good luck if you're one of them!

FNAF Intro

The following days I will work on a smaller chunk: adding a short recap of the FNAF plot that is going to be relevant to PI's lore at the beginning of the game. It'll be nice for those who don't know much, or even anything at all about FNAF's lore.

This intro will feature a soundtrack that I will start making today!

Stay tuned!
