Dialogue in a Space Shooter


So, as those of you who follow me on Twitter know, I am adding “dialogue” to Starfire. I put dialogue in quotes because I haven’t implemented dialogue in as extensive of a way as you might imagine.

The dialogue that is in the current development cycle is about 18 different quips, all of which do nothing aside from add flavor to the game. The cool thing about it though is that it is moddable very easily! Once I release the newest edition, the updates will be located in the Starfire_Version_Data/dialogue folder, for you to modify to your will!

Currently, there are three different response styles: calm, mean, and weak. At the moment, those are the only three that are allowed. However, I would like to at some point make it so that any xml file that follows the same name/file format will be able to be included as well.

Some time ago, we posted a screenshot of the Mexico level. A curiosity about it is that, like some other scenarios of the game, it was inspired by a real landscape, The Basaltic Prisms of Santa María Regla. It is one of the natural wonders of the country!
