Lore:

Sans was sickening after watching everyone die over and over again, and he stopped Papyrus to trying to capture in snowdin and took care of himself, but it failed, and Papyrus was now the one who made this decision.

He rushed to find help, but nobody came, the human killed everyone in the last second.

Once again, a stranger tells him to follow Papyrus to show their secret place, it was the witch who saw Papyrus and Sans, she tells him to make him stronger to betray his moral, a little bit kind as usual, he train her into a magical covenant that he could use some bone magic with upgrades, so the witch who could stop time with the human killing them with his training.

He mastered all of the covenant and his attacks, and now he was ready, the witch gave him a key back to the surface realm in past, present and future to gather some potions, and gather some books and encounters the human with his magic spell.
