After revealing our trailer for ‘At the Heart of Ruin’, our second region DLC, we’re now ready to share a little more about the new realm you will be able to explore. The first area we’ll look at here is Varnurud, which is one of the traversable parts of the great Mountains of Fire. As harsh and unforgiving as it is, most vagri will spend a great deal of their time here, as they navigate searing magma flows and the seemingly endless hordes of madmen who run roughshod over it.   

As even a glance makes clear, these lands are not for the faint of heart. They are also home to all the scavenger gangs we have revealed thus far: the Crimson Skull, the Wasteland Stalkers, the Raptors, and the Hollow Men, with two more to be revealed later. While most of the land has been picked clean, there yet remains a great many untapped sites – from ruins of the Dwarves who dwelt here before the Calamity, to vestiges of long-forgotten secrets, to the homes and hearths of beasts not found elsewhere in the Riven Realms. Make no mistake: there are a million ways to perish out here.

With Varnurud being difficult to traverse, vagri will have to rely on their wits, tenacity, and resourcefulness to explore it. Nearby Scrapheap will also offer a host of new opportunities and perils, but to hear more about that, you will have to wait a while longer.
