Background Info:
I've tossed around ideas for a Doll Factory continuation over the past few months after not really having any inclination to do a direct 'sequel' of any kind.
I'd consider the game to be a success, as it garnered a following that I'd never had before, however I wanted to move onto other things.
I came up with the concept for Psyllume almost a year ago now, which would be an indirect continuation of Doll Factory's story. It was an ambitious undertaking- and I quickly realized how ill-equipped I was in making it a reality.
The Juicy Stuff:
Doll Factory's continuation was originally planned to be DLC, then I thought about making it a standalone title. With your support and feedback I think I'll be able to make a decision later on down the road (it definitely will not be called 'Doll Factory 2' though). It really depends on how much content there is, which depends on how much people would like to see a continuation.
The story is flexible, as it's going to be a condensed version of Psyllume (which was huge). I'll have room to change things up, especially since I haven't actually started the rewriting process yet.
Release Date:
I want to be transparent with you all when it comes to this project since that's how the first game's development was approached.
Since planning hasn't started, I can't confirm a release date or anything. In terms of whether or not it'll be a gradually updated game, I'm also not sure.
More than likely it'll stick with the same release pattern as the story mode did rather than the custom night: lots of posts about the game & a beta test before the actual release.
Releasing version by version likely wouldn't work since it'll be a linear story, so this is the most likely plan.
Final Thoughts:
Although it's a long post, I figure it's best to clarify things now since there won't be much in terms of info for a while.
Senior Sunset is my current project, and that's going to take quite a while to finish (but it's going really well).
With that game's release date currently set for Q3 2025, I probably won't begin development until Q4 at the earliest (although it may be later).
Hopefully I can get some news out around the Halloween season :)
