Heya, I've been kinda quiet on the game since I released the updated Alpha Foxer boss theme, so I figured I wanna talk about whats new with DOTD.
So I had mentioned in a post when I initially took down the Legacy Demo that the game was being redone in a newer version of GameMaker. I had wound up doing this for a couple of reasons
The Legacy Demo's framework was made during a time when I didn't fully understand GameMaker 1.4. As a result, the underlying code was very messy, and full of hack-job solutions that are painful to bugfix when they stop working. The newer version aimed to be easier to bugfix, and full of ease-of-use scripts to make adding stuff like enemies, abilities and cutscenes easier.
Using an in-support version of GameMaker is a much wiser choice that the outdated option. Plus I get to take advantage of some things that I couldn't in GameMaker 1.4, like animation curves (i love animation curves).
Now for a preview, Chapter 1 will have a new area that was not in the Legacy Demo. I briefly showed it off when I joined BlueSky. Now I'm at the point in the chapter's development where I can actually work on the area. I'm not going to show off too much cause I still want some things to be a surprise, but I'll show this image of Addie and Dexter chilling in the area.
That's all I have to show. The chapter should be done a little after the start of the new year. Once it is done, permitting that beta testing doesn't take too long, Chapter 1 should release sometime in February or March 2025.
