Due to two (important) reasons, Art Weeklies will enter in hiatus for the time being.

Details (going from how will this hiatus process be handled, to why this hiatus is being taken) in the article below.

The hiatus process will go as following:

  1. After this announcement goes live, the Art Weeklies account will make a last post for the time being, letting the people following that account know about this hiatus.

  2. The community will operate as usual but without new themes until this Saturday, at 23:59 in UTC-3, to allow for late submissions (like it was always handled).

  3. When that time is reached, to avoid possible vandalism, all public channels will be locked, and the community title will have "[In Hiatus]" added into it.

  4. The community will remain essentially archived until the hiatus ends or any significant update to the situation happens.

I know this isn't something that you all wanted to hear, but there's two reasons as to why this is happening, which are the following:

  • Me (AnubiArts) not being capable of continuing with this project (at the moment, at least)

  • Redo plans as to where to take this community going forward

These reasons are explained in detail below:

AnubiArts not being capable of continuing with this project

Truth be told, a lot changed between June 2023 (when Art Weeklies was officially revealed) and now, to the point that I can't keep up with all of it.

Since then, I've been involved in far more projects, I've gotten into other platforms, and I've gotten more busy overall. I've tried to keep up with what I could, but I can't really maintain everything as usual.

I've already had to stop or slow down in quite a few things (such as some social medias), but I still bite off more than I could chew.

What am I trying to get to with this? Well, it's getting harder and harder to manage everything regarding the community/account, to the point that sometimes I feel overwhelmed regarding it.

Until I manage to sort out everything, or I find someone that can really manage this project, I'll have to stop with Art Weeklies for now.

If you'd like to offer yourself to handle this for some reason, keep in mind that it's not an easy task, you'll need to come up with new themes consistently and manage the AW account, while promoting it to help it grow, along with all the things of managing a community at GameJolt.

I've considered merging this project with another community, but I still need to decide that. Speaking of...

Redo plans as to where to take this community going forward

The original plan of Art Weeklies was just to share new themes and letting the most amount of people know about it, then it was shifted to focusing on the current members of the community, then it was shifted into an almagation of different things.

For instance, originally there weren't plans to have a weekly spotlight at all, due to fear of it diminishing the works of others, but after a while it was eventually added.

All in all, if I don't find a good person/group/community for managing the AW Community/Account, I'll have to reevaluate where to take Art Weeklies going forward, because as of right now I got distracted by the fog and lost the focus of where this community/account really needs to go.

I feel like I didn't handle this community the best, of which I'm sorry. Once this gets sorted out (or I manage to find a "successor"), Art Weeklies will come back for more. This isn't the end, just a break. If nothing works out, I'll try to bring Art Weeklies back myself, whatever it takes.

-AnubiArts.
