This isn't really a devlog because there isn't a lot to show that would not be too spoilery. Despite this, there's still big things that we should say. Things that have been limiting what we could announce since the release of the 1st demo.
Confession: WE SWITCHED GAME ENGINES
(TML engine -> Cheetos engine)

WHY??? AND WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR THE GAME???
It means that the game is to be remade from the ground up on the new engine. I mean, obvious, but this gives us the opportunity to improve attacks, add newer ones, and implement things to the game play that we may have been meaning to add beforehand. Also, this remake process already mostly happened so there's not much need to wait for it now.
This also means that the game will now be optimized for adding more content, such as new things that build on top of the original game play without interfering with it too much, aaaand new content as a whole! Such as an extra phase to the game and a proper ending. (These are separate from the engine switch release)
One of the biggest things about this is the fact that the soul physics will be closer to Undertale's physics. This may throw some people off when playing the game again, sorry! But overall it shouldn't take that long to get used to, especially since the attacks are built around these new physics.
Forgor
Overall, the decision was made since the engine + optimizations would essentially future proof the game for the Phase 4 update, but there's many other updated aspects of the game as well, so We hope you'll enjoy everything that's been worked on for the past year now!

Also, the initial release of the game will be put into an archive page, should anyone want to play that as well.
IN ADDITION... There is the release schedule that's only been talked about on Discord. (Our Discord!)
Demo 1 (Released) - Demo of Phases 1 - 3 of the battle, for the purpose of setting a ground in terms of releasing something and setting the bar of quality to improve upon.
Demo 2 (Work in progress) - Overhaul of Phases 1 - 3, mostly the same except for new engine, touch-ups, revised parts of the game and new content / game play built upon the original content.
Final release (Early stages) - The big thing: Phase 4 + the ending. Most likely alongside some more minor details added to the previous phases. This is the last part of the game (maybe) & I'll also try and release all of the sprites.
All versions of the game get bug patches post release.
This release schedule has been the running plan for the game's development for a while now, so it's quite absurd that only now I get to mentioning it publicly... Again, apologies, but now it's made clear what should happen!
Overall??
We literally remade the entire game in order to be able to finish it 😭BUT, it won't happen again. We are definitely more than half done the next update, but it's still gonna take a while so you guy's patience is always greatly appreciated and unfathomably valued. Balancing this project and life/ school/ work/ college or whatever comes the team's way isn't an easy thing. So thank you for your patience, enjoy what's come out, and look forward for the future of this game in 2026!
