Early Access 1.2.9 is out

Version 1.2.9 is now available to play.

The full release is only three chapters away from now! Two of them are partially done and will include the final boss.

I don't think I'm going to change much about the game from this point on, so all the trophies you can currently unlock in-game are now visible here on Game Jolt! Have fun.

There's some more to come in release 1.0, but you can get about 90% completion already if you're worthy.

Here's a long list:

  • Fixed some of the save data being unable to reset

  • Fixed music not playing in Petrified Library

  • Fixed music not playing during a certain boss battle

  • Fixed music being reset after defeating some bosses

  • Fixed player bombs passing through breakable platforms

  • Fixed alchemists incorrect movement on some platforms

  • Fixed some treasure chests in the world map covering player sprite

  • Fixed throwing axes and darts being unable to hit the demon boss

  • Fixed player collision when attacking on ladders

  • Fixed an oversight that caused some enemies to spawn skulls with an offset on death

  • Fixed timed mode reset not affecting checkpoints

  • Fixed some inaccurate ennemy attack hitboxes

  • Updated the layouts and visuals of many early levels

  • Updated some sprites for better visibility

  • Completely remade some old chapters (again, I know)

  • Made crystal lasers a bit quieter

  • Made the hitboxes of some projectiles bigger (no increase in difficulty but you can't phase through them anymore)

  • Made the first boss' attack pattern less repetitive

  • Reduced the attack speed of magic skulls

  • Reduced the attack speed of Archives miniboss

  • Reduced Archives miniboss melee damage from 2 hearts to 1.5

  • Rearranged late game chapters

  • Enemy drops now spawn further up if the enemy was killed with spikes

  • Holding jump key now allows to adjust doublejump height like normal jumps

  • Platforms are now displayed on the correct layer

  • Heavy axe throwers no longer can block explosions

  • Shield guys no longer make it hard to jump over them in weird clunky ways, level design was adjusted to prevent it instead

  • You can't pick up keys when dead anymore

  • Ladder climbing is now slightly slower to match walking speed

  • Added two new active items with unique abilities

  • Added many new levels and two new bosses

  • A new soundtrack, "Chains" is now available for listening

EDIT: just found out certain physics objects ignore collisions in this build, I will probably release a patch soon that fixes this

Next up

Updated the gifs in the description so they show the game's current state, also more early levels are being reworked

A pretty big update is coming very soon (hopefully).

As a teaser, a new soundtrack is now available. Check out "Land"!

EDIT: forgot to mention I'm not going to use the tweaked torches sorry bros

Maybe this should have been in the game from the beginning but those guys have telegraphed attacks now. Soon I'm going to release another patch, focused mainly on the early game.

The upcoming update is going to include an extended tutorial level and a small rework to the first level after it. The plague doctor is still on that platform.

I changed the torch glow to actually respect the game's color palette, the effect turned out pretty intense though. Is this better?
