EDIT: I have released a new theory in which I disagree with the points I made here. Check it out:

Kane has openly mentioned that because Gem Stone, Grave Stone and the Luxes do not exist anymore, Strings is technically an unessecary character. This has opened up the floodgates for speculation on who the true protagonist is in Evergreen. With the recent release of the Machinist, I found 2 potential pieces of evidence suggesting Strings has not been removed (no, one of them is not that the phone animation is a bit janky). It is incredibly loose, but I am a Mike Schmidt Jr. denier and if he ever comes back i will personally send a pipe bomb to kane carter's mailbox.
1) The office reveal

Popgoes Arcade is implied to be played by a child, and when you think about it in the context of this reveal... it makes no fucking sense. Unless Bonnie is playing the game (which is incredibly unlikely) how the hell would this work?
I could be reading too far into it, as Arcade is a simple teaser game to prepare you for Evergreen. This could also imply some random-ass dude is hallucinating, but dear god we don't need a London Bridge and therefore Mike Schmidt Jr. Reference. I think this is a reference to...
2) The Curiosity Module, Server Room Easter Egg and 2 Incredibly Specific Past Public Statements Made by Kane Carter

The Curiosity Module could return. In the reboot, it is specifically implied Arcade takes place during the nightshift, unlike the original Arcade 2016 with the "tonight, his shift begins" text. Kane said he has also considered the idea of giving each item in the room glowing eyes when at higher panic levels. Unless the guard is on some sort of Acid trip I.E. The Fazbear Funhouse (#TFFSweep), this could imply the curiosity module is back.
Also, on the recent Pastra livestream of the Machinist, Kane goes out of his way to mention that the little camera indicator thing circled above changes color.
I think this is either an easter egg you'll see later in Evergreen, when Strings finds the truth and starts to hallucinate Bonnie via the curiosity module. Why else would Kane point that out specifically?

That is literally all the evidence I have. Again, it's a weak theory, but it's better than Mike Schmidt Jr.
