Description

Entity 72, referred by wanderers as "The Men", or "Shadows", or by their species name "homo tenibris", which roughly translates to "dark man" in Latin, are a group of malevolent entities that stalk wanderers in 90% of all Backrooms levels. They are most commonly mistaken for hallucinations from low sanity, or due to the mental effects of Level 0. They weren't seen as an actual entity until the early 1900s, but weren't given a catalog number until 2023.

Characteristics

Entity 72 is commonly described as a shadow of an adult human male between 5-7 feet in height. Some reports, however, describe them as being children shadows 2-4 feet tall.

Discovery

The earliest known instance describing Entity 72 was in 1924 by Eric Johnson. 30 years later, he was found as nothing more than a head.

Entity 72 is found in a wide range of levels, but most sightings report them being the most common in the following levels:
