EWRV Devlog 5 - Health, Weapons, and Plans

So I've finally gotten back to properly working on the game in my spare time once more. And during said time, I've managed to add in a proper health system and level checkpoints! I'm also currently working on adding weapons to fight the enemies, as just jumping on them feels very same-y when it comes to platformers in my opinion. The first one I'm working on is empty cola cans that can be thrown at enemies, and it'll be the starting/base weapon for Edd. While it will have an unlimited use, I plan on having the other weapons use limited ammo/shots, with pickups being all over the levels.

Also when it comes to enemies, there's still only one basic type that walks back and forth. I have more enemy variations planned though, such as ones that will also be able to use projectile weapons.

So far the list of things to finish or add includes weapons, more enemies, more powerups, improved platforming/controls, and MAYBE (and this is a BIG "maybe") other playable characters in the form of Tom and Matt.

Although they'll only be truly considered if I can get all the base parts of the game along with a functional demo finished, so don't get your hopes too high for now.

This update may have felt "shorter" than usual in terms of actual development, but I wanted to get it out there to show that there's still progress being made, and to share what's possibly to come.

Maybe by the next update, I'll be able to get the game presentable enough in terms of appearance and mechanics to upload some proper gameplay.

And one last thing. Try not to worry too much or expect another issue with data loss, as I'm now consistently backing up the project files to a few sources. Things should hopefully go smoother from now on, even if my PC gives out.

Anyways, that's all for now.
