MARCUS HAYES: I've heard about the opportunities here at Xubur's Edible Food. Is there a chance to sign up for the security position?

RECEPTIONIST: (pleasant) Absolutely, Mr. Hayes. We're always on the lookout for dedicated individuals. Please fill out this form, and we'll process your application right away.

MARCUS fills out the form with enthusiasm, hoping for a fresh start in this new venture.

MARCUS drives his car into the parking lot, an air of excitement in the air. He parks and steps out of his car. The camera focuses on the building's imposing logo.

The logo consists of stylized lettering that reads "XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD." The "Edible Food" buzzes out, and then the possessive "'s" in "Xubur's" buzzes out as well.

The camera zooms in on the remaining text, now clearly reading "XUBUR."

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - DARK CORRIDOR - NIGHT

MARCUS HAYES walks cautiously down a dimly lit, cold hallway.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - SECURITY OFFICE - NIGHT

MARCUS reaches the end of the hallway and slowly enters the security office through the left door. The room is dimly lit, casting an ominous glow. A sense of unease washes over him as he glances around the room.

On the desk, he notices a collection of plushies.

MARCUS checks the time on the clock - it reads 12:00 AM. The silence of the night feels deafening. MARCUS, startled by the sudden ring of the phone, quickly picks it up, the ringing echoing through the silent room.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - SECURITY OFFICE - NIGHT

MARCUS listens to the call.

PHONE VOICE (Voice Message) Greetings, nightguard. You're listening to a voice message. Welcome to Xubur's Edible Food. This message will guide you through the night. Two doors are in front of you - they heat up the more they're closed, so use them wisely. There's a vent with a built-in light and flash beacon right in front of you. Utilize it to illuminate the path. The camera system is your ally; use the lights to see clearly. You'll find a maintenance panel with indicators showing door heat levels. If a door reaches max heat for an extended time, it will open for the remainder of the night. Be vigilant.

MARCUS spots a "Reset Xubur" button, and a spark of curiosity enlightens within him.

Good luck, man. May you make it through the night.

The message ends, leaving Marcus in the dimly lit security office, now armed with knowledge and caution.

MARCUS HAYES, feeling a bit more at ease at 1 AM, starts to slack off. He lays on the office floor, playing with the plushies and stuff. He then reaches up to the Xuburbot poster and honks its nose. He then does it continuously. He then gets tired and sits down. Suddenly, at exactly 1:40 AM, a chilling voice disrupts the silence.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - SECURITY OFFICE - NIGHT

With the plushies and the poster providing a momentary distraction, Marcus idly watches the security cameras, the minutes passing by. Suddenly, at exactly 1:40 AM, a chilling voice disrupts the silence.

DISTANT VOICE: I have to go to the bathroom.

Startled, Marcus's focus sharpens. He glances at each door light, heart racing, but sees nothing. He quickly checks the cameras.

On the security monitor, he sees the StripeBot animatronic, standing ominously still, eyes glowing an eerie white.

MARCUS: (confused, whispering) What in the world...?

He hesitates, trying to make sense of the bizarre situation. After a moment, he decides to put down the monitor and tries to get some rest, though an unsettling feeling lingers in the air.

Suddenly, in the distance, he hears eerie, mechanical laughter.

SFX: Creepy laughter in the distance

STRIPEBOT: (laughing, echoing) Hahaha...

MARCUS: What the hell is going on?

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - SECURITY OFFICE - NIGHT

In an unexpected and terrifying moment, StripeBot suddenly appears right at the left door.

STRIPEBOT: Ooga booga!

Marcus is paralyzed with fear, screaming loudly in sheer terror.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - SECURITY OFFICE - NIGHT

With trembling hands, Marcus manages to close the door as quickly as he can, trying to block out the fear-inducing sight and sound. StripeBot continues to bang on the door, the noises slowly fading into the distance before vanishing.

Marcus, breathing heavily, is left shaken and trying to comprehend the horror that just unfolded.

Marcus then proceeds to go to sleep again, and him alarm goes off at 6 AM. He gets up and leaves.

STUPID STREET - MARCUS'S HOUSE - DAY

He then goes home to his wife, Sadie Hayes.

SADIE: So..how was the job?

MARCUS: It was..fine.

SADIE: Something seems wrong. You okay?

MARCUS: I'm fine! It's just..nevermind.

Marcus goes upstairs to get sleep when Tyler Hayes wakes him up, shaking Marcus's bed.

TYLER: *laughs*

MARCUS: Tyler, stop it boy!

TYLER: You said it was funny when I did that!

MARCUS: Yeah, when you were like, 5! Now get off, you'll be late for school.

TYLER: School shmool. I'll stay with you guys!

SADIE: No you won't! We're having a busy day!

MARCUS: Okay, listen here, I had a rough night. I need you to just go to school, okay?

TYLER: Whatever, dad.

STUPID STREET - OUTSIDE MARCUS'S HOUSE - DAY

BUS DRIVER: Oakland High!

A bus approaches the house.

Tyler walks into the bus for school.

INT. SCHOOL CAFETERIA - LUNCHTIME - DAY

Tyler, and his two friends, Tom and Emily, sit at a lunch table, talking and eating.

TYLER: (casually) My dad's so stupid. He's always making weird rules.

TOM: (nodding) Tell me about it. My dad still makes me sit in a booster seat in the car.

EMILY: (rolling her eyes) Ugh, my dad won't even let me eat pizza. Says it's unhealthy.

TYLER: My dad thinks he's the boss because he has a stupid job.

TOM: What's that?

TYLER: Some cringey kids place.

EMILY: How about we break in before he gets there?

TYLER: What if we get caught?

TOM: I'll handle that. Meet me and Emily there at 8:00!

The teens return to their class. With Tyler making a scared face.

STUPID STREET - MARCUS'S HOUSE - EVENING

It's now evening, around 8:00 PM. Tyler tells Marcus he's going to the skate park.

TYLER: (to Marcus) Hey, Dad, I'm heading to the skate park with my friends. Be back later!

MARCUS: Be back by 9:00!

EXT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - NIGHT

Tyler arrives at Xubur's Edible Food on his skateboard, where he meets with his friends, Tom and Emily.

TYLER: (whispering) Okay, guys, we've got the perfect chance to check out the place before the night shift starts.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - ARCADE AREA - NIGHT

The three friends enter the building and discover an arcade area with many machines.

Tom breaks the cameras.

TOM: Now we won't get cau-

Tom discovers a Pac-Man arcade machine.

Tom can't resist playing it.

TOM: (excited) This game is awesome!

Tyler and Emily decide to explore other parts of the building.

TYLER: You do that!

TOM: Sure, okay!

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - ARCADE AREA - NIGHT

Tom is deeply engrossed in the game when something strange happens. The lights suddenly come on, and the arcade machine turns off.

TOM: (confused) What just happened?

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - STAGE - NIGHT

The stage curtains open, revealing Xuburbot, Stripebot, and Amberbot. They're moving robotically and singing from their speakers.

XUBURBOT, STRIPEBOT, AMBERBOT: (in unison) Welcome to Xubur's Edible Food!

TOM: Animatronics huh? What if I just..

Tom walks up to Amberbot, intending to have some fun by messing with her wires and deactivating her.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - STAGE - NIGHT

As Tom approaches Amberbot, the lights go out, and the stage curtains close. It's pitch black.

TOM: (panicked) Hey, guys, where are you?

Tom pulls out a flashlight to see in the darkness.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - STAGE - NIGHT

When the flashlight comes on, Tom sees nothing on the stage. The animatronics have vanished.

TOM: (nervous) Okay, this isn't funny anymore. Where are you guys?

Suddenly, Amberbot emerges from the darkness, grabbing Tom by the neck. He gasps for air as he's choked.

TOM: (choking, struggling) Let go!

Amberbot drags Tom closer to her face, and he sees a saw blade spinning in her mouth. He screams in terror.

TOM: (screaming) No, no, no!

A splat sound is heard, and Tom's decapitated body falls to the ground.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - STRANGE DOOR HALLWAY - NIGHT

Tyler and Emily venture further into the building, eventually coming across a strange door in a dimly lit hallway.

EMILY: (whispering) What do you think is behind this door?

TYLER: (curious) Only one way to find out.

Emily fumbles around and eventually finds a light switch. They step into the room, revealing Marcus's office.

EMILY: (surprised) It's the office, Tyler.

TYLER: (grinning)I have an idea!

They playfully honk the poster's nose and mess around with the plushies. Suddenly, a loud clang startles them.

TYLER: (nervous) What was that?

They remember that Tom destroyed the cameras, leaving them without the ability to see what's happening in the rest of the building.

EMILY: (panicking) The cameras are gone. We're blind.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - STRANGE DOOR HALLWAY - NIGHT

Footsteps grow louder, echoing down the hallway towards them.

EMILY: (whispering) We need to hide.

Tyler quickly uses the right door light, revealing Amberbot approaching them.

AMBERBOT: (taunting) Gotcha!

Amberbot lunges at Tyler, grabbing his feet and attempting to drag him away. Emily grabs Tyler and manages to pull him to safety. They both scramble to their feet and run, leaving Amberbot behind.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - PARTS ROOM - NIGHT

They enter the parts room and lock the door, thinking they're safe for the moment. However, their relief is short-lived.

TYLER: (whispering) We should be safe in here, right?

Suddenly, a loud bang shakes the door. They look around in the dark room, only to notice shining white pupils in the darkness.

EMILY: (terrified) Tyler, we're not alone in here.

They frantically try to escape the room, but Amberbot is seen locking the door from the outside. The figure with the white pupils gets closer and closer.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - PARTS ROOM - NIGHT

Screams can be heard from inside the parts room, but the camera view shifts to outside the door. The screams abruptly stop, leaving a chilling silence, and bloodstains appear on the window.

Amberbot then walks away from the room, leaving a trail of dread and uncertainty.

INT. MARCUS'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

The scene transitions back to Marcus's house, the clock showing 9:14 PM, with Marcus and Sadie unaware of the horrors their son has encountered.

Marcus glances at the clock, growing concerned.

MARCUS: (worried) Tyler should be home by now.

SADIE: (concerned) You're right, Marcus. I hope he's okay.

I gotta get some sleep though. Get ready for your job.

Sadie kisses Marcus before going to bed.

INT. MARCUS'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

As Sadie goes to sleep, Marcus prepares for his night shift at Xubur's Edible Food. He gets in his car and drives to the establishment.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - OUTSIDE - NIGHT

Marcus arrives at Xubur's Edible Food and enters the building. As he walks towards his office, he notices the bloodstains on the parts room window, unsettling him.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - OFFICE - NIGHT

Marcus enters his office, only to discover a big mess.

Despite the office being in disarray, Marcus disregards it and sits down at his desk.

His phone rings, and he answers it.

PHONE GUY: (voice on the phone) Hey there, nightguard. It's me. Just thought I'd give you a heads up. Marrowbot's been acting a bit weird lately. Hates the light, you know. So, when you get a chance, head over to its cove and shine some light on him.

As Phone Guy speaks, Marcus realizes that all the cameras are broken, leaving him with no way to monitor the animatronics.

MARCUS: (frustrated) The cameras are all down. I can't see a thing.

PHONE GUY: (sympathetic) Tough luck, but you'll manage, right? Good luck, man.

Phone Guy hangs up, leaving Marcus to face his shift with the unsettling knowledge that Marrowbot is acting strangely and no way to watch over the animatronics.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - OFFICE - NIGHT

Marcus exits the office and begins to walk around the establishment. He notices Amberbot acting strangely and looking around creepily, but he decides to ignore her for the moment.

As Marcus continues his rounds, he hears curtains opening behind him. He turns to see Marrowbot's cove, where Marrowbot stares at him with an eerie intensity. Marrowbot gets off the stage with a loud, unsettling footstep.

MARCUS: (nervous) Hey there, Marrowbot, you should chill.

Marrowbot starts chasing Marcus, cornering him and pointing his hook menacingly in Marcus's face.

MARROWBOT: Yarrg! Time to walk the pla—

Before Marrowbot can finish his sentence, Marcus quickly shines a flashlight into Marrowbot's eyes, causing him to scream in pain. Marrowbot rushes back to his cove and closes the curtains.

MARCUS: (relieved) Whew, that was close.

Marcus turns around, only to find Stripebot and Amberbot right in front of him, staring at him intensely. He chuckles nervously and makes a run for it, trying to find a place to hide.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - PARTS ROOM - NIGHT

When Marcus tries to hide in the parts room, he discovers Tyler's lifeless body on the ground. Overwhelmed with grief, he breaks down and cries for the loss of his son.

Stripebot approaches Marcus slowly, laughing menacingly while getting closer. Marcus spots a bucket of water and uses it to temporarily shut down Stripebot. Amberbot, in her twitching state, starts approaching Marcus but slips in the puddle of water, also temporarily disabled.

Marcus sighs and sits down in his office chair, attempting to regain his composure.

Suddenly, he hears footsteps down the right hallway, but when he looks at the door, he sees nothing. Marcus begins to think it might be nothing, but just as he lets his guard down, he's ambushed by Marrowbot.

Marrowbot nearly slices Marcus's head open with his hook, but just before that happens, the clock reaches 6 AM, and all the animatronics abruptly stand up and march to their designated positions.

Marcus seizes the opportunity and makes a run for it, fleeing the establishment as quickly as possible, his heart pounding with the nightmarish experiences he's endured.

INT. MARCUS'S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY

Marcus returns home, visibly miserable. Sadie, concerned and perceptive, asks what's wrong once again.

SADIE: (worried) Marcus, you look devastated. What happened at work?

MARCUS: (tearfully) I... I can't keep it to myself anymore.

Marcus breaks down, his head hanging low. Sadie gently puts her hand on his shoulder, offering comfort and support.

SADIE: (softly) Please, Marcus, tell me what happened. You don't have to go through this alone.

MARCUS: (tearfully) I saw... I saw Tyler's body. I can't get that image out of my mind.

Sadie, now crying as well, embraces Marcus, sharing in his grief and pain.

INT. CEMETERY - FUNERAL - DAY

Time passes, and a funeral is held for Tyler. Family and friends, including Tyler's teacher, Ms. Soobar, gather to pay their respects. It's a somber and emotional occasion.

People share their condolences and memories of Tyler, their faces marked with sadness. The atmosphere is heavy with grief.

Later that evening, around 11:00 PM, Marcus prepares to leave for Xubur's Edible Food, but Sadie gives him a meaningful look.

SADIE: (questioning) Why are you going back to that place, Marcus? It's where our son... where Tyler...

MARCUS: (determined) I need to know more about that place and those robots, Sadie. I can't rest until I understand what happened.

Sadie, worried but supportive, decides to accompany Marcus.

SADIE: (resolute) Then I'm coming with you. We'll face this together.

They get into the car and drive to Xubur's Edible Food, united in their quest for answers and closure.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - OFFICE - NIGHT

Marcus and Sadie arrive at Xubur's Edible Food, and they hear the phone ringing in the office. They both pick up the phone, and Marcus introduces Phone Guy to Sadie.

PHONE GUY: (cheerful) Hey there, Marcus! Who's your friend?

MARCUS: This is my wife, Sadie.

PHONE GUY: (friendly) Nice to meet you, Sadie.

Phone Guy proceeds to talk about the Hunterbot character, describing it as very aggressive and the only animatronic small enough to fit in the vent. He advises that using the flash beacon should send Hunterbot away.

PHONE GUY: (helpful) When you see Hunterbot in the vent, use the flash beacon to keep him at bay. He doesn't like the light. Should help you out there.

PHONE GUY: (confident) By the way, the cameras are all good now. You can keep an eye on the animatronics. Just remember, keep an eye on them as much as you can.

After the conversation, Marcus decides to hang up the phone, leaving him and Sadie alone with the animatronics in the dark and eerie environment.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - VARIOUS AREAS - NIGHT

Marcus gives Sadie a brief tour of the establishment, introducing her to Xuburbot, Amberbot, Stripebot, Marrowbot, and even Hunterbot, though Marcus doesn't know much about the latter. He shares details about the layout and mentions the place where he found Tyler's body.

MARCUS: (softly) And that's pretty much it. Just be careful, Sadie.

Sadie, curious about a big red button, presses it, and at first, nothing happens. But after a while, the stage curtains unexpectedly open, and the animatronics, Xuburbot, Amberbot, Stripebot, and Marrowbot, come to life, performing and singing.

Sadie begins dancing, and Marcus can't help but give her a half-smile as they enjoy the show.

However, the pleasant moment is abruptly interrupted by a loud ring, and everything shuts off. The animatronics suddenly start acting as if they were performing a show, unaware that someone is missing.

XUBURBOT: (concerned) Somebody is missing!

AMBERBOT: (confused) No, everyone's here!

XUBURBOT: (glitchy voice) "oiferiwfjeriojffkjsdl" is not here! We need to find them.

Stripebot mentions that (glitchy voice) "oiferiwfjeriojffkjsdl" has been gone for hours, but Xuburbot insists on finding them and says nobody likes Stripebot. Even a laugh track plays. The curtains close, and the animatronics start approaching Marcus and Sadie.

XUBURBOT: (friendly) Hey! New pals!

The other animatronics in the room agree, and Xuburbot offers a fist bump. Sadie, wanting to be friendly, attempts to give a fist bump as well. However, Xuburbot suddenly snaps and bites off her finger. She screams in pain, and Marcus and Sadie run to the office as Xuburbot and the other animatronics chase after them.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - OFFICE - NIGHT

They manage to get into the office safely and quickly close the door behind them. Xuburbot bangs on the door a few times but eventually gives up.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - OFFICE - NIGHT

After a chilling moment in the office, Marcus and Sadie decide to have a conversation about family to pass the time and ease the tension.

SADIE: (reflective) You know, Marcus, despite all this, family is what matters most.

MARCUS: (nodding) You're right, Sadie. Tyler was everything to us.

They continue to chat, trying to find comfort in their shared memories and love for their son.

However, at around 3 AM, they hear something coming from the vent in front of them. Startled, they look inside but initially see nothing. But after a moment, they spot something moving rapidly.

HUNTERBOT: I know you're in there!

Hunterbot is attempting to bite through the vent door to gain entry to the office. Sadie screams and desperately tries to keep Hunterbot out, but he persists in his relentless pursuit.

MARCUS: (quickly) Sadie, use the flash beacon!

Marcus swiftly activates the flash beacon, causing Hunterbot to retreat in pain.

HUNTERBOT: (in distress) My eyes!

With Hunterbot gone, Sadie and Marcus sit on the floor, relieved to have thwarted the animatronic's attempt to break into the office. The harrowing encounter serves as a reminder of the dangers they face during their night shift. After a bit, they deal with some other characters, and the night ends. They leave the building.

NT. DOCTOR'S OFFICE - DAY

Marcus and Sadie visit a doctor to get Sadie a prosthetic finger, helping her regain some sense of normalcy and confidence after the traumatic incident with the animatronic. The doctor carefully fits the prosthetic finger, making sure it looks as natural as possible.

INT. MARCUS'S HOUSE - KITCHEN - NIGHT

Back at their home, Marcus and Sadie decide to relax and enjoy a simple meal of cereal. It's a moment of respite and normalcy amidst the recent chaos.

INT. MARCUS'S HOUSE - BEDROOM - NIGHT

After dinner, they spend the day resting and recuperating, trying to put the horrors of the past nights behind them. Time passes, and at 11:00 PM, they prepare themselves for what they know will be the final night of their ordeal.

They then start the night.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - OFFICE - NIGHT

At 3:00 AM, a mysterious figure from the parts room breaks free and gets into the office without Sadie noticing. It grabs Sadie, and she lets out a loud scream. Marcus rushes to the office only to find Sadie's lifeless body on the ground. He kneels beside her, overwhelmed with grief.

MARCUS: (crying) No... Sadie...

The mysterious figure, revealed to be the original Xubur, not Xuburbot, tries to attack Marcus, but he manages to push it away and flee. He attempts to leave, but the exit door is locked, trapping him inside.

As Xubur gets close to him, Marcus closes his eyes, preparing for the worst. However, when he opens his eyes, Xubur deactivates, and Marcus experiences a series of hallucinations involving the animatronic characters.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - EMERGENCY EXIT - NIGHT

After a series of hallucinations, Marcus spots an emergency exit. But just before he can open it, Golden Xubur appears, kicking Marcus across the room and causing him to bleed. Golden Xubur reveals that he had been watching Marcus all along and shows the bodies of 8 previous nightguards.

Marcus tries to fight back, but he's overpowered. Golden Xubur begins to choke him. Just as Marcus is about to die, whirring can be heard, and Golden Xubur drops him.

INT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - NIGHT

Golden Xubur then confronts an old friend, Spotty, a wolf animatronic. But Spotty attacks Golden Xubur. After a brief struggle, Golden Xubur shatters Spotty into pieces.

Marcus attempts to reach the emergency exit, but Golden Xubur teleports in front of him.

GOLDEN XUBUR: You had your chance to leave.

But it's over,

He's about to slam Marcus against the door, the click reaches 6 AM, the sun comes out. Golden Xubur screeches because of the light and fades away.

EXT. XUBUR'S EDIBLE FOOD - MORNING

One Marcus leaves, the rest of the animatronics get up, but they dont return to their stages. They go for Marcus. He quickly escapes.

Marcus decides to set Xubur's Edible Food on fire, causing the entire building to crumble in the flames. The robots are still speaking, but their voices get deeper, and deeper, until they are fully burnt.

STUPID STREET - MARCUS'S HOUSE - MORNING

Marcus is shown sitting in his house at the dinner table all alone. Nobody to talk to..but himself.

He looks at a family portrait.

MARCUS: I'll miss you guys.

Then, thunder strikes. But on the 4th strike, a quick flash of Xubur's shadow will appear, and the movie will end.
