Hey everyone! Welcome to the first official devlog of Planet Morph! This is subject to change, but right now I’m planning to post a devlog update once every couple months, so expect them to be fairly dense with information! With that out of the way, let’s get right into it!
Development in this game started late October, and after a couple months I finally had enough groundwork laid to begin the first area of the game, The Laboratory. This lab belongs to sentient robot beings called the ISS-RR (Intelligent Self-Sustaining Replication Robots) who thrive to make advancements in scientific technology. Hence, the creation of the player, the Alterux!
The Alterux is a powerful being that can transform into any creature it touches, organic and inorganic alike. In the full version of Planet Morph, my tentative plan is to have around 50 creatures to collect, but again that’s subject to change. The demo will have around 5, with the ISS-RR being one of them!
Which brings me to the demo coming out! Right now, I hope to have the demo finished sometime this Spring, free to play, of course! It will include the entirety of the first area, the Laboratory, and should take around an hour to finish. This should hopefully give you guys a good feel for how the game is going to look and play, and a chance to give feedback. I hope you all will enjoy that when it comes out!
So where am I at right now, progress-wise? Well, right now I’m working through a rough draft for the demo, creating it room by room, bit by bit. Once I make it through that, then I’ll go back and polish up the demo for release. The Laboratory is made up of test chambers, designed for the ISS-RR to study you. They include puzzles, like the one you see beneath me:
And of course the main focus of the game, enemy battles! As you probably know by now, defeating enemies like this Veneksa here will allow you to transform into them, and use their abilities to fight and traverse the lands!
But yeah, that’s what I have to show you guys for now! I’ve got a guy working to compose the soundtrack, so I’ll hopefully have some music to share with you guys next time as well. I hope you guys are as excited as I am for the project, and if you want to support this project even more than you already are, consider wishlisting the game on Steam! It's free and really helps with the Steam algorithm, so I'd really appreciate it if you did! And if you want some smaller bite-size announcements, I try to post little progress updates on my Twitter weekly, so be sure to follow that if you are interested!
God Bless! Thanks for your support!
