First Blog Post!

Oh, excuse me! New indie developer coming right through!

My name is Taro Omiya, and I’m the sole developer of the indie game studio, Omiya Games. I was a daring challenger of #OneGameAMonth 2013, and all 4 of my games posted here on GameJolt were created in at most a month (though not necessarily by myself)! It was a crazy year, but here I am now, able to share my efforts.

This year, I’ll be fleshing out a few games to a fuller experience. I’m already busy building more features on top of Galactic NEON, and will be posting regular updates on it. The team I worked with on Global Game Jam 2014 are also discussing about expanding Ichabot Crane as well. As for String Theory and Prototype: Munch…well, those are in the backburner right now, but I’m still looking forward into expanding them!

A few other things about myself: my favorite game designers are Shigeru Miyamoto and Keita Takahashi, two men who created games that played like no other at the time. Like them, I aim to create new game mechanics never experienced before. This should be pretty obvious on all the games I’ve listed above that takes a well-known game genre and completely turns it over its head.

That said, I’m a huge sucker for a game with an excellent story. It’s no accident that my favorite game genre are Action JRPGs. I’m open to any story-based experiences around here, so let me know if you have any suggestions.

Well, that’s all I have for today. I usually blog at the Omiya Games homepage, but I will also try to keep this site up to date as well. Until then, happy gaming!
