I’m kind of glad it came back, even though I haven’t really played Fortnite that much anymore since it’s becoming repetitive for me.
Still remember the day Apple kicked Fortnite out because of one tiny detail of Epic bypassing Apple’s purchase intake.
If you don’t know, how the apps works (or how it used to work) is that every time someone made an in-app purchase(s) on that app, Apple takes 30% of that revenue and the other 70% to the developers. Epic decided to make a workaround by offering a direct Epic purchase and an option of Apple purchase with a 30% increase. And what’s the cost for paying directly with Apple’s purchase system?
Only $10. That’s technically not even that much, and with that alone and paying directly to Epic cost like 7 something dollars. Kicking the entire game out just for that small thing really is…something… I think it’s super brutal.
I heard that Epic and Apple has been battling over this in court for seemingly 5 years, and recently Apple lost miserably to Epic because the court found Apple lying to the court. I don’t know how exactly it went through, but Apple, a multibillion dollar company, lying IN court is personally really laughable.
Then I heard that Apple is ordered to allow 3rd-party app stores to their devices and cut down their excessive control. So, Apple is allegedly controlling which apps you should have on your device.
Well then, that out of the way, 5 whole years of poof and it finally came back. What people do to cope with the iOS absence is play through GForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming, which works kind of fine but not beneficial if you don’t have stable connection.
I still won’t be playing Fortnite that much, but I do come back occasionally just to get the vibe out of it.
